Mandatory criteria enough or not? (Exceptional promise)

Hi guys,

Hope all is well. Recent graduate here, did my master’s in Advanced Computer Science. As I was about to graduate and willing to switch to graduate visa I heard about global talent visa and when i matched my evidence it seemed to align with the criteria. Therefore I decided to apply.

I got recommendation letters from 3 tech leaders,

  • CFO , CBO of a major streaming company (as my innovations aligned a lot with music tech and it got attention within big streaming giants)

  • Head of a big cybersecurity company and ex founder , COO of a product based company selected by Antler eigenspace accelerator.

  • Software Development manager and has mix of lead senior position in various product led companies and was also my lecturer so he knew lot of my work he also talked about my open source contributions and research

For Mandatory criteria

I submitted 3 seperate open source contributions in 3 documents for 2 different substancial repositories each highlighted leadership, problem solving and my learning ability all merged and showing potential

For OC1 I submitted an AI tool evidence that I built addressing the innovation aspect and the google analytics stats and a music app I built along with stats as it gained market traction (4 documents)

For OC4 I submitted my feature of peer reviewed journal and media mentions there were (2 documents)

In total there were 9 documents and i have provided measurable impact in each and every achievement i had.

I recieved a feedback from someone who applied for exceptional talent (after submitting my evidence due to short of time I had to submit earlier) and I feel only 3 open source contributions arent enough. Even though tech nation hasn’t mentioned about any limits in regards to a certain type of evidence so i am a bit clueless on this.

Need someone to clarify this would 3 open source contributions be okay which addresses leadership, technical contributions and learning ability?

Hi @shantanu_gupta theres no such specified number, it depends on the quality of the evidences and overall set.

You have submitted 3 OS in MC which means your evidence variety to just one in MC. And the same in OCs. It depends on the quality and strength of your evidences to be able to suffice to clear the criterias.

Hi @pahuja thanks for clarification. Since I believe the contributions address different problems in software development it should be fine but hoping for the best.

@shantanu_guptaI I think all three pieces of evidence relate to the same criterion and could be combined into one stronger document. You might want to consider adding other activities which I believe you should have. (Note: This is a personal opinion)

Yes I have the same opinion but i also believe since the documents are focused on different aspects for example fixing a bug, changing developer ecosystem / dependency management I think the evidence should be alright.

But again I can’t really say. I just hope it suffices.
