I have quoted a few names but I am open to any advice from anyone else! Feel free to comment!
I applied on December, 2024. The contract in the Mandatory criteria was from 2019. Why did they mention that it was over 5 years old yet it was from 2019 and I applied on 2024? I think this was just an error from them. Any thoughts? @pahuja, @hsafra, @mariverse, @Francisca_Chiedu
Below is the feedback I received. I did not provide any explanations as to how and why my evidences demonstrate the different categories. Just a quick question; what could lead to such a feedback as insufficient evidence apart from my mistake for not explaining how my evidences demonstrate the categories? Thanks!
For the contract dates, if the contract is from early 2019 and you applied late 2024 then more than 5 years have lapsed in between.
Overall, the feedback seems to state that the TN panel didn’t believe the evidence provided show a leading position in the digital tech field.
If you send a description of the evidences that you uploaded we may be able to advise if they fit the TN criteria,
Please also take a look at the TN visa guide Tech Nation Visa Guide - Tech Nation and check if the evidence you provided fits the examples given there.
A forum member created a checklist from the guide that might be easier to work with, it’s found here UK Global Talent Visa TechNation Stage 1 Mandatory and Optional Criteria Checklist
Thank you @hsafra for your insights! So, here’s my evidence uploaded:
3 Letters of recommendation from tech industry experts working at product-led companies. They mention about my technical expertise, consistent and continuous learning and how I would contribute to the UK Digital Economy based on my tech skills.
MC: A letter of reference describing my achievements and technical expertise, an email screenshot of a prize from a FAAANG company I received for exemplary performances in a tech program (but no explanation that it was as a result of exemplary performance) and a website maintenance and digital marketing contract that was started in the mid-year 2019.
OC1: A document that I drafted and designed which talks about the new software that will digitize services that were previously manual, a bank’s presentation invitation to present this new innovative project to the bank, my company’s license (I registered a company to start this innovative project in 2019) and the bank’s feedback about funding the project (the bank could not fund startups due to the strict bank policies).
OC2: 3 screenshots of my voluntary early morning (outside job role) participation in the local tech clubs.
I never explained anything about these evidences and how they meet their respective criterias. I just uploaded the evidences as they are.
Lack of explanation on how these screenshots fit the criteria definitely harmed your application. You may be able to explain this in an appeal, try to shortly explain how the evidence shows leadership without it looking like you’re adding evidence.
If the contracts are ongoing and lasted more than 2019 you can note that it was an ongoing engagement and not limited to more than 5 years ago.
OC1: it’s about digital field innovation. How was that new software innovative in the banking field?
OC2: seems like the same type of evidence was used? you’ll need to explain your role there
Thank you @hsafra. The contract was a 3-months contract that lasted past the mid-year, 2019. You had mentioned earlier that if the contract was in the early year of 2019 and I applied late in 2024 that, that was past 5 years. Kindly can you explain more using an example. Thanks
Also, I had a great feeling that my lack of explanation did the entire damage because most evidences were not even opened due to lack of any explanation leaving Tech Nation to think for themselves
It doesn’t not seem like you put a lot of thought into this application as the evidence described in the feedback clearly do not meet the requirement for endorsement. You need to take your time and read the tech nation guide, it seems like you just gambled with the application. How does the evidence submitted show leadership, Innovation or impact ? Take some step back and show more evidence to show how and why your are exceptional.
Thank you so much @Francisca_Chiedu. Regarding showing impact; how do I go about this? Is it in terms of metrics, numbers, percentages or how do I showcase this? Thanks!
Thank you so much @Francisca_Chiedu for your insights! I didn’t reach out to former or current employers due to the restriction of former or current managers. But I reached out to senior tech industry experts who have known my work for over 12 months. I think I should point out on the LORs the specific parts the recommenders mentioned about my achievements. Is that right? Thanks
