Will recommenders be contacted?

Hi everyone - very quick question: has anyone seen cases where the TN committee reach out to recommenders directly for further verification?

Two of my recommenders have bad experience in the past when they were repeatedly contacted by different requests so bit hesitant in helping out, wonder in general how often does this happen

Some people said their recommenders where contacted bit it is usually not common. I won’t recommend using a recommender who is reluctant to respond to a reference request
