Will online mentorship work

Hi,

I noticed the following statement in the Tech Nation guidance:

“Note that mentoring should be primarily an in-person activity. Online mentoring platforms (such as ADPList) are not considered sufficient as evidence for mentoring.”

Does this mean that if a person is based in the UK and conducts mentoring sessions online, this would not be acceptable, and that they should instead conduct mentoring sessions in person in the UK?

My wife lives in London and provides mentoring sessions as part of a structured mentorship programme for Ukrainian start-ups as a volunteer. Such mentorship sessions are performed online (1991 accelerator). Could this mentoring activity be accepted as evidence?

Thank you.

Kind regards,

To be honest, this is subjective, however it should have some physical elements. It also has to do with platform and organisation’s reputation. I strongly recommend at least hybrid, where you are assigned to visit a school or organisation, along side online mentoring activities.

All the best.
