Stage one - UK Global talent visa

Hello everyone!
I am about to start the stage one of the UK Global Talent Visa, please i need your suggestions on how to go about my process and my situations.

I am Software Engineer with 7 years of experience.

I have worked with three CEOs/Founders companies as a senior Software Engineer where i developed many software for both in-house and client’s use.

I also have an application i own and i have some clients currently using the application.

I have my newly registered company with Company certificate and Tax certificate and planning to get some contracts from clients.

I have some sapplications in my repo on GitHub, and i have contributed to some few projects too.

I have some few transactions and project on my company’s name now.

However, i am planning to apply under exceptional promise. I have also gone through the Tech Nation website and via the instructions for candidate.

In fact, i have told those CEO my intention and the have commenced on the recommendation letters for me.

I hope i have enough evidences to gather from all these?

Please all, i need your inputs and suggestions.

Thank you.

Sounds like you’ve got great experience. I’ve just applied on the 23rd for Exceptional Talent. It goes without saying that evidence of an incorporation certificate or shareholder information won’t suffice. The guidance is pretty clear on this. I have two companies, although I didn’t actually use the evidence because I’m a consultant, I prepared 3 years of audited accounts, just in case.

You’ll need to show evidence of sustained self employment and work / results produced through or by the company and evidence to back this up i.e., customer testimonials. It sounds like you’ve got a great background, but I dont think you’d be able to use self employment as evidence.

Also, make sure only one letter of recommendation per company at senior level CXO is perfect and has to have known you or your work for 12 months or more

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it. However, can I use any detail job transactions from bank on company as an innovative and AI company, also, can I use letter of testimonies from my clients, also show what I have built like the applications (software) and client websites , the mobile app for school for checking results and some job invoices.

Further more, let me understand your first point, did you say I can’t use the incorporation certificate and the Tax certificate as any evidence?

I will be excited to hear from you.
Thank you very much.

Do you have evidence of sustained industry recognition? Are you a thought leader, contributor or speaker at industry events that show how you are ahead in your field?
Are you working on an innovative product?
Do you have a track record of significant contributions to product or company growth?
If a simple Google search is done on you, what will pop up?
Do your recommenders stand a chance of being endorsed if they apply for GTV themselves?

These are pertinent questions I would answer before commencing my application.

Looking at your profile, you have a solid foundation for the Global Talent Visa application. Your 7 years of experience, work with three CEO/founders, and your own application with active clients puts you in a strong position for the Exceptional Promise route. I’ve seen similar profiles succeed when they focus on the right evidence strategy and tell their story well.

For your application structure, I recommend focusing on Optional Criteria 3 (OC3) for your employee contributions at the three companies, and Optional Criteria 1 (OC1) for your entrepreneurial work with your own company and application. Your GitHub contributions can support OC2 if they show meaningful community impact. Make sure to get detailed letters from those CEOs that explain not just what you did, but why your work was innovative and how it impacted their businesses. Include specific metrics like user numbers, revenue impact, or technical breakthroughs.

Your personal statement should tell the story of your journey from employee to entrepreneur, explaining why you want to continue this path in the UK. Be specific about your planned occupation - mention your intention to grow your existing business or start new ventures in the UK. Include details about which region you plan to work in and how your experience will benefit the UK’s digital technology sector. I’ve seen applications succeed when they clearly connect their past achievements to future UK contributions, so make that connection strong throughout your application.

Wow… Thank you so much. In fact you have helped me to structure some part of my applications. I really appreciate it. However, please could you help me to review my personal statement and others? I can send the to you via email if you don’t mind. Also, my company was just created this year.
Thank you for review my question and your reply.

Sure if you reach out on LinkedIn or shoot me a DM

@Samson_Ajax 7 years, as a Software Engineer already make you eligible, but what really matters now is being able to show 10 strong pieces of evidence that prove you have made an impact or have strong potential in tech in the past 5 years.

It is good that you can get recommendation letters from 3 CEOs. Just make sure you share the Tech Nation guideline with them(Recommendation letter part). The letters must meet certain criteria and should focus on your achievements, your impact, and why you stand out, not just list the roles or tasks you had. Also, visit their LinkedIn profiles and be sure, they have track of experiences and repute of a person who can recommend a GT individual. Because a first time CEO of a local, small self registered company may weaken your application.

Also, having a certificate of incorporation alone does not say much. What matters is what you have actually done. Things you have built, who uses them, what problem they solve, what changed after your work. Focus on the results or impact, not just the activity.

If you can share your GitHub account, I can check it and advise. However, contributions to open source or useful tools you have developed can be helpful.

Your question, “I hope i have enough evidences to gather from all these?” In all honesty, I think you don’t have enough from all of those, some, perhaps. @Gbemiga_Adelola pertinent questions to answer, will give you an idea. Take your time to really read the Tech Nation guide to see acceptable evidence you already have or could get within the acceptable period.

All the best.

Thank you so much. I will that when all the evidences and the letter are ready. Thank you in anticipation.

This really inspired me. However, i need to contact you for further clarity on my evidences too.
But i most say, you really dig it down. Thank you so much. I will get in touch very soon. Actually, i am currently working on another project that can also help me in my application. When i am done, i will reach out to you (all too). Thank you.

But please i will really appreciate you to answer this: can i use all the project, like the software and applications i have developed as evidences? thank you in anticipation.

Glad you found it useful. On your question, yes you can use them but the focus should be less on what you have built and more on the impact, innovation, recognition and leadership shown through those projects. In other words, the projects themselves are not enough.
