For the question that asks “Will your dependents be travelling with you”. I marked Yes, however I don’t want them to travel with me in the first flight to the UK but come in later after I’ve settled (maybe after 6 months or so).

In this case, would UKVI force me to apply for my dependents now itself or will I have the freedom to apply for their dependent visas later?

If your dependents are not applying for their visas along with you at the time of your application, then your answer should be “no.”. Regardless you will still be asked for their information and they can apply later. hope this answers your question.
