Hi everyone,

I’m preparing my application for the UK Global Talent Visa and seeking an endorsement from Tech Nation. I’d greatly appreciate any feedback from those who have gone through the process or have experience with Tech Nation applications.

Below, I’ve outlined the documents I’ve prepared:

Recommendation Letters:

  1. Senior Product Lead (former colleague, currently at another company)
  2. Current CEO
  3. Principal Software Engineer (UK-based mentor for the past 5 years)

Mandatory Criteria:

  • Co-Founder agreement
  • Software service contract with one of our clients
  • Client testimonials and JIRA metrics demonstrating client improvement after using our application
  • Innovation letter with project innovations and supporting screenshots

Optional Criteria (OC):

OC1: (Proven track record of innovation)

  • Reference letter from my current CTO
  • Innovation letter with screenshots and charts showing the impact of my features on client businesses
  • Project partnership documentation

OC3: (Recognized for exceptional talent)

  • Employment contract showing my salary
  • Payment slips
  • Glassdoor comparisons indicating my salary is up to 3 times higher than the industry average for my role in my country

Request:

I would appreciate any guidance on:

  1. Whether these documents sufficiently cover the criteria.
  2. Any additional details or documents I should include.
  3. Tips on structuring the application for clarity and impact.

Your insights would be invaluable to ensure I submit a strong application.

Thank you so much for your time and support!

Hi @Noosak

  • do the testimonials call out your name specifically? You need to show your personal significant contribution to the application and not just overall good application developed as a team even if you are a cofounder.
  • who are these letters from?
  • how do the service contract demonstrate your contribution?
  • MC looks like only letters and contract which is insufficient.
  • who is this innovation letter from? Are the backing screenshots n charts internal or external evidence?
  • how does project partnership document show your contribution to innovation?
  • This also looks very letter heavy which is insufficient. You need some external proofs as well to strengthen.

This is insufficient to prove OC3. You need to demonstrate contribution to significant commercial impact in your work experiences.

Payslips and contracts are insufficient to prove any criteria. They are just add-on evidences.

You need to significantly strengthen your application set to include more evidence beyond letters and payment/contracts. Your evidences should clearly demonstrate your personal significant contributions and their respective impact. MC will also need some proofs to demonstrate impact on advancement of the sector. External proofs like media mentions, news articles, PR, conferences, panels etc is good to have to further strengthen your case.

  1. Do the testimonials call out your name specifically?
Yes, the testimonials explicitly mention my name as the Technical Lead of the project. They highlight my specific contributions, particularly the key features I developed and led within the project.

  2. Who are these letters from?
The letters are from C-level executives of our application’s client companies, including CTOs and CEOs. These professionals have collaborated directly with me and can attest to my technical expertise and leadership.

  3. How do the service contracts demonstrate your contribution?
The service contracts were intended to showcase the commercial value of the software service. However, if these documents don’t fully demonstrate my personal contributions, I am open to replacing them with more relevant evidence. I will be happy if you have any idea

  4. MC looks like only letters and contracts, which is insufficient.
I appreciate the feedback. Since our project is not registered as a startup, what additional evidence would you recommend to effectively prove my contributions? Would financial records or GitLab contribution analytics charts be suitable?

Thank you for highlighting this point. I understand the importance of clearly demonstrating my personal contributions and their commercial impact. Could you provide examples or best practices on what type of evidence would effectively support this?

I am not sure when you say it’s a project and you are a cofounder but the company is not registered?

Beyond just talking about your contributions they also need to include the impact of your contributions in quantified metrics and external proofs wherever possible.
