Renting a home in UK without job

Hello!
I have secured my visa vignette and visa starts from Jan 1, 2025. I currently have a remote job which I plan to leave before I arrive in the UK. Plan is to arrive in the UK and secure a new job in first 3 months.

My question is: do tenants ask for an active employment letter and only then allow me to rent in their home? I can give them former payslips and bank statement with sufficient funds to show that I can pay rent for the rental duration (upto 1 year I believe), however despite this, do they still need an active employment?

Please suggest me the best route. Thank you!

Requesting @Francisca_Chiedu @pahuja @hsafra to please let me know if they have any advice on this. Thank you!

If you don’t have active employment in the UK landlord will sometime ask for 6 months and up to a full year of the rent in advance, or ask for a guarantor. The letting agency will usually advise you on the best way forward.

You may have to pay your rent upfront or get a UK guarantor.

It depends on your landlord/agent. I’ve heard of those who demand 3-12 months rent payment upfront and/or a guarantor. By the way, if it’s not mandatory to leave, please hold on to your remote job while you search for another here.
