Rejection - Seeking Clarification on My Feedback (Job Role: Lead Business Intelligence Analyst)

Hi everyone,

I applied to Techantion on August 10, 2024, and unfortunately received a rejection today, September 3, 2024. I’m reaching out to seek advice on whether I should appeal the decision or consider submitting a new application. Here’s a summary of the evidence I submitted:

MC1: Leadership and Impact - Submitted Evidence: A letter from the former CTO of my previous company, who is now a founder of a leading business in India. The letter detailed my work, its impact on the organization, and the team I led.

MC6: International Recognition - Submitted Evidence: A letter confirming an international award I received, accompanied by news clippings, a picture of the award, and a reference letter from the awarding body. This award is well-recognized across Africa, and I am aware of another successful applicant who was endorsed based on this same award.

MC8: Media Presence - Submitted Evidence: Media mentions in reputable newspapers, with quantified metrics on the reach of these publications, supported by SimilarWeb data.

OC2.6: Thought Leadership
• Submitted Evidence: An op-ed published in a reputable media outlet, discussing my contributions to relevant topics within my field.

OC7: Mentorship Contributions:
• Submitted Evidence: Letters from two mentorship programs I’m currently involved with, along with a letter from the legal counsel of one program appreciating my contributions and extending an invitation to participate in future initiatives.

OC3: Professional Achievements and Contributions
• OC3.1: Employment contract, bonus letter, and payslips from my current organization.
• OC3.2: A letter from my current employer detailing my work and contributions to the organization.
• OC3.3: Documentation of my significant contributions to commercial success, including architectural diagrams and metrics, along with a reference letter from my current employer describing my efforts in filtering out fraudulent customers (non-performing loans) and sales representatives from the system. Additionally, the reference letter from my current employer provided further validation of these contributions.

Additional Documentation:
• CV and Personal Statement: Outlining my professional journey and achievements.
• Letters of Recommendation:
o From the CFO of a product-led company, detailing my contributions to projects with my previous company.
o From the CFO of a product-led company, detailing my contributions to projects with my current company.
o From the CEO of a leading technology training and consulting firm, describing my work with his training institute and our professional relationship.

I was rejected on all three criteria, and I’m trying to determine the best course of action. Should I appeal this decision? If so, what pointers can I use in my appeal? Or would it be better to make a new application? Any advice on how I can make my application stronger would be greatly appreciated.

I applied under the Exceptional Talent - Business route

Thank you in advance for your help!

@alexnk could you please share for feedback also? I would really appreciate

hi @Ritae

its always advisable to appeal to get a second chance with further comments that might help you in your re-submission if your application is still rejected.

Hi @Ritae sorry your application was rejected: you should always appeal. Like @Maya mentioned, if not anything you will get more feedback which will help in a new application if you choose to do it.

The feedback on this one is quite clear and specific. If your application already has what the assessor has highlighted as missing, you can redirect the assessors attention to the specific doc, para, line in each OC where they have shown dissatisfaction. The chance of appeal success ultimately depends on your original application itself since you cannot add new evidence or any new piece of information. All you can do is route the assessor back to sections of the original application which answers their doubts basis which they have rejected. If your application doesn’t fulfil those then it will again lead to the same outcome however with more feedback.

You can also use these as inputs for a new application.

Good luck!
