Recommendation Letters for OC4

Hi, I have a question regarding the Tech Nation Global Talent Visa application.

The official Tech Nation guide states that any letters of reference submitted as part of the 10 supporting evidence documents must not be the same as the three mandatory recommendation letters. However, it doesn’t explicitly state in the section I read that the additional letter must be written by a different person.

Would it be acceptable for one of my three main recommenders to write a second, separate letter focused specifically on a particular criterion, such as my research contributions, and submit it as one of my 10 supporting evidence documents? Or must this additional letter be written by a completely different individual?

I want to ensure that the additional letter is distinct from the main recommendation letter and meets all the relevant Tech Nation requirements.

Thank you for your guidance.

The Guide does not say the writer must be a different person. It says a supporting-evidence letter should not be the same as one of the three mandatory letters and should be specific to the chosen criterion, so one of your recommenders can provide a separate letter.

Supporting letters should also meet the format and specification for mandatory letters. The author is expected to be an established digital-technology expert with detailed knowledge of your work for at least 12 months. A letter alone cannot establish a criterion, so include other evidence of the research contribution.

@siddhesh_sangle Trust you are well.

Yes! Recommendation letters are different from reference letters. Although they are both expected to be written by an established expert in the sector who know you and your work for at least twelve months.

The recommendation letters are written by well established individuals acknowledged as experts in the digital technology field, with detailed knowledge of your work over a period of 12 months or more, supporting your Global Talent application. While a reference letter is a letter referencing your evidence claim concerning a specific criterion.

In short, recommendation letters support your overall application and reference letters support a particular criterion.

Recommendations letters are mandatory and are part of what assessors look at when making a decision on your application. While reference letters are not sufficient on their own. They need to reference evidence that rightly meet the criterion.

Now for OC4 research papers and contributions, what you need is not actually a reference letter but a letter of endorsement. This letter endorses and support that the paper has the potential of world class standard. The endorsement and support letter must be written by another individual (Not the same people who wrote your recommendation letters) - See my second quotes image below

All the best.
