Choosing your evidence is not about volume - it’s about impact.
These 10 documents are your chance to tell a clear, persuasive story of why you stand out. When selected strategically, they work together like a highlight reel, showcasing recognition, influence, and measurable impacts. The goal isn’t to include everything you’ve done, but to present the strongest proof that you meet the criteria.
You can submit at most 10 documents (each ≤ 3 A4 sides paper with at least two unique evidence sets). And here is my selection suggestion logic that has given me over 95% success rate in my Tech Nation Application guidance and consultation service.
- Three pieces for mandatory recognition
(e.g., major press piece, awards, senior industry reference, top tier conference main stage talk, leading a growth of a product or team, evidence that are convincing, compelling, substantial and highly recognized, presented strategically. These must align with your career story or narrative as it were.)
- Six pieces for the two optional criteria
Be selective: use strong evidence like corporate audited accounts, patent grant, conference programme, product metrics, press coverage, investor term sheets, structured mentorship, and huge contribution to open source, product, architecture proof, substantial GitHub commits with context, customer contracts, business acquisition, funding from VCs with external validations, revenue to mention but a few.
- One or Two reference letters
(Don’t use more than two letters) - These letters should be written solely to reference evidence. Like a letter from an expert, you worked with referencing and agreeing to your claims, direct managers, colleagues, co – founders and friends are not suitable.
Finally Three recommendation letters
This are separate from the 10 evidence, however are reviewed with the mandatory criteria, each from an established expert in digital technology who has known your work for 12+ months. Letters must be unique, specific, follow the Tech Nation guideline and duly signed electronically.
Remember: No Double counting - The same document can’t prove two different criteria.
