Mandatory criteria allow using open source projects. If I have 2 different open source projects in the last 5 years, can I use them as 2 separate documents (2 pieces of evidence)?
I understand showing other attributes like mentorship is also helpful, but is it alright to include 2 different open source projects as 2 separate pieces of evidence in MC?
It isn’t strategic to present the same type of evidence as separate evidence sets, for instance, MC1 (open‑source contribution) and MC2 (open‑source contribution). The guidance is clear that each evidence set must be unique, meaning MC1 should not be the same kind as MC2. Although applicants do this often, it weakens the overall strength of the application. Strategically, combining two similar open‑source contributions can actually produce a stronger single set: MC1 + MC2 = stronger MC.
So, based on the guidance, the answer is no. And strategically, it’s counterproductive.

I already have 2 different MCs: One Open source project and one public speaking.
But I have 2 more evidences remaining out of the 10.
So I was thinking instead of leaving the other 2 evidences out, I would add an extra open source evidence. Would that be counterproductive?
Do you mean you currently have 12 evidence sets or 8?
I have 8 (2 MC, 6 OC).
If I include the extra open source project, it becomes 9 (3 MC, 6 OC).
Your question is whether adding the open-source contribution to MC would make both MCs unique. You can present them strategically by using two distinct narratives and recognition elements. Please note, however, that this is only a workaround, the underlying facts remain the same.
