LOR'S AND EVIDENCE Plan Review

Hi, I am preparing to apply for the GTV and i’d really appreciate a review and feedback on my LOR’s and Evidence I plan to use to know the area’s I need to improve and what to focus on.

I have worked for 3 product-led companies in the past 5 years: Company A, Company B, and Company C. I plan to submit a total of 10 evidence documents to support my application under Exceptional Promise.

Letters of recommendation

  1. CEO & Founder of Company A
  2. Managing Director of Company B
  3. Head of Digital Solutions – Company C (Currently a founder of another company in the same industry)

Mandatory Criteria (MC) — Proof of Leadership & Innovation

  1. Significant contribution (Company A): I led the redesign of the company’s mobile and web applications. Evidence: Figma screenshots, metrics linked to revenue growth, product adoption data, and user testimonial videos.
  2. Reference letter (Company A): From the CEO & Co-founder to support the above.
  3. Significant contribution (Company B): I designed a new system for the flagship product. Evidence: Figma designs, news clippings, revenue growth metrics, and product adoption data.
  4. Reference letter (Company B): From the Lead Product Designer to support the above.

Optional Criteria 2 (OC2) — Recognition Outside of Work

  1. Community Contributions / Talks: Guest lectures and UX seminars at 2 universities (4 occasions total). Evidence: Photos of lectures, email invites, and LinkedIn posts from students.
  2. Open Source Contributions (still in view): 4 Figma plugins published to the Figma community. Evidence: Links to community pages and usage metrics

Optional Criteria 3 (OC3) — Technical/Business Impact

  1. Significant contribution (Company A): Led the design of the company’s product website. Evidence: Figma designs, email conversations, growth metrics, CTR, and revenue impact.
  2. Reference letter (Company A): From the Lead Product Designer at Company A to support the above.
  3. Significant contribution (Company C): Led the design of a major feature in the company’s web app. Evidence: Figma designs, Jira tickets, user adoption, and revenue metrics.
  4. Reference letter (Company C): From the UX Manager at Company C to support the above.

I think your application still needs to improve.

I am not sure if these evidence show your leadership or not. And your reference letter is not a key evidence, it just support and validate the other evidences.

OC2:
2-1: Double check if they are structured program, and etc as follow Tech Nation’s guideline.
2-2: You need to show the metric which you are considered significant contribution: eg. lots of contribution, votes, etc - do not just show the list of activities you did, as it does not qualify.

OC3: I feel that you may be wasting a few spaces for reference letter. Each evidence can combine 1000 words or 3 page max. So you can either include letter into the OC3-1 or OC3-3, or another way is to combine 2 reference letters into 1 evidence and write explaination to explain how these helps to validate and strengthen your other evidences.

  • OC3-1 or OC3-3: make sure you focus on the key metrics which are relevant to your work, and get them verified by some letters. You do not need to show your figma design or Jira tickets, if it is not the key topic or does not contain any key metrics to discuss, because they just waste your space.

By working for more than 5 years, and applying for Exceptional talent, you will need at least 2 strong evidence in each criterion to pass the qualification
