It’s Not Over Until You Win — Your Success Story Could Be Next
I believe the fastest way to reach your goal is to walk with someone who’s already been there. That’s why platforms like this exist, to help you learn from others who’ve travelled the same path. Ask questions. Share your drafts. Seek feedback. It’s not weakness; it’s wisdom.
Endorsement isn’t luck, it’s strategy, clarity, and hope working together. Here are five things, from my experience that can increase your chances of Global Talent endorsement:
-
Understand the criteria deeply — Don’t just rely on examples in the guide or what another applicant submitted. Learn what each criterion really asks for as relative to your narrative, then get or align your evidence to rightly meet the requirements. For instance, MC is not only about speaking in high-profile digital technology sector events, you need to show the recognition element, impacts and reach clearly to rightly meet the requirement for speaking for MC.
-
Strategically present your evidence — Think of your 10 pieces as a story. Strong evidence should come first — psychology tells us first impressions build trust. A balanced structure could be 3–4 evidence sets for the Mandatory Criterion, 3 for the first Optional Criterion, and 3 for the second. But then, your formation should be dependent on the strengths of each, your story and narrative.
-
Choose reputable referees —Letters should be from a reputable experts, who speak from the perspective of those who have oversight over your work and not like a colleague. Also, the letters should be consistent with part of the evidence you present. Not saying you did something with a recommender, that no evidence is presented to show.
-
Craft a powerful personal statement — Personal statement should not just be about your roles, responsibilities and personal achievements but should talk about your impact, contribution, innovation, should be structured around where you are coming from, where you are and what you can do and will do in the UK as a result of your past and present.
-
Stay hopeful — Every endorsement story started with uncertainty. Keep believing. Hope fuels persistence, and persistence gets results.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
All the best.

he listed his field is there a separate application for AI… what about having been a mobile engineer but now using the application of AI in your products
Best read of the day. This is super encouraging @Raphael.
I look forward to some help soonest.
Currently having issues with my Mandatory evidence as I am no longer working with some of the employers (left the last one to complete my MSc Data Science program which became very demanding).
The challenge is that I can’t really access any of my documentation, GitLab commits for my last place (as my account is wiped off instantly after exit), no access to the internal projects I contributed on and for one of my evidence, the best person to speak isn’t with the company anymore as we don’t even have any publicly available documentation of my contributions. One lesson I have learnt going forward is to also start screenshoting my work evidence and documentation for personal usage and probably requesting my employers to document my achievement publicly by acknowledging my contributions in public if possible.
However, I still have remuneration as a base evidence of growth that I can provide when compared to industry standard in Nigeria.
These are currently my major challenges.
Aside from this, I am able to provide other evidences around my contributions to the sector, innovation of products built outside employment etc.
Please what do I do?
I am grateful for all the guides and advice I have received so far since I joined this amazing community.

Thank you for your kind words. On the issues you raised, your current employment status is not a major requirement. For MC, the focus, when it relates to a company is on how you led the growth of a product led digital technology company, product, or team within a digital technology company, and this can be from any point within the last five years.
If you no longer have access to the evidence or the individuals you worked with, there are still MC options that are not company dependent. These can still show that you have been recognised as a talent or have the potential to be in the sector. Examples include leading the growth of a non‑profit or social enterprise with a clear focus on the sector, or contributing significantly to a substantial open source project outside your normal day job.
Remuneration alone is not enough. You still need to show how you have advanced the sector beyond your paid role.
On your question:
Please what do I do?
I need to have a look at your narrative and what you currently have. Once I see that, we will be able to identify strengths and gaps. I’ll then be able to suggest what steps you can take.
All the best.
