ILR confusion for my dependents

Hey all,
This question might’ve been answered several times but I’m really confused.
1- I got my global talent visa back in July 2024 and the expire date is 28/07/2024.
2- My wife was on student route and therefore, we had to wait before applying for her. Her visa application of a dependent of global talent was approved on 4th December.
3- Her visa also obviously expires on 28/07/2024 same time as me.
4- I will apply for ILR just before the expiry date for myself.
5- Global Talent Dependent can apply for ILR after 5 years on this route.

Questions:
1- Should I extend her global talent dependent visa for 3 years at the same time I’m applying for ILR just before expiry? If this is the case, she can also apply for ILR, sometime before July 2030, is that correct?

2- I saw this and this is the part where I got confused:

“If a dependant does not apply for ILR alongside the main applicant (you), they may need to switch to the spouse/partner of a settled person visa route once you obtain ILR. This visa requires an additional 5 years of residence before they can apply for ILR.”

If above would be the case, that would mean she can get ILR in 2032 instead of 2030?! I’m really confused :open_mouth:

When you apply for your ILR, your wife we need to extend her visa based on her previous global talent dependent status. When the three years expired she will extend again and then apply for ILR. If edge extends as spouse of settled person, she will start counting all over again.

Thank you so much. Just to clarify then, I can get my ILR after three, although I’m done with global talent visa, she can still extend her dependent global.

Is there any plus for her to switch to spouse of settled? Imean whats the difference if she keeps extending her dependent global talent visa and switching to my dependent as settled?

I’m in the same boat please let me know when you have some information
Thanks
