IHS Refund - Switching to GTV

I wanted to share some useful information, particularly for those transitioning from a different visa category to the Global Talent Visa (GTV).

My own visa, a skilled worker one, was set to expire in June 2024. However, in August 2023, I switched to the GTV. This resulted in overlapping periods for which I ended up paying the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) twice, summing up to 10 months.

I sent email in August, requesting a refund, but received no response. I had almost given up hope, thinking they wouldn’t issue a refund. Surprisingly, just two days ago, I received a partial refund.

This experience could be helpful to others in similar situations, who are switching visas and find themselves with overlapping periods.

For reference, my communication was through the email address: transactionalservicescorrespondence@homeoffice.gov.uk.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have not received any refund. The overlapping period is almost 2 years. Also, I paid 5.5 years for my dependents, even they got almost 5 years visa.
