Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some advice from alumni or professionals familiar with the UK Global Talent visa (Digital Technology route). I’m preparing my endorsement application under the Emerging Leader pathway and would really appreciate feedback on whether my evidence is being mapped correctly to the criteria.
Background*
- Kingston University alumna
- MA Media & Communication (UK)
- MSc Brand Management & Marketing (UK)
- Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualified
Current Role
Marketing Account Manager (Band 2) – Digital Distribution
Blackhawk Network (global fintech / branded payments company)
- Sole marketing lead for the digital distribution function
- End-to-end ownership of marketing strategy across:
- Amazon Sponsored Ads
- Amazon Branded Stores
- Promotional deal activations
- Responsible for:
- Strategy creation
- Budget ownership
- Performance optimisation
- Commercial reporting
- Manage digital marketing strategy for 30+ brand partners
- Regularly lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with external:
- Distribution partners
- Card partners
- In QBRs, I present forward-looking marketing and investment strategies that influence partner decision-making and long-term planning
Previous Experience
- Account Planner – EssenceMediacom (WPP / GroupM)
- Media strategy and planning for global brands (Shell, Tempur, The Coca-Cola Company)
- Involved in campaign innovation, optimisation, and employer branding initiatives
- Marketing & Communications Officer – YMCA St Paul’s Group (Health & Well-being)
- Led digital and offline marketing campaigns
- Customer journey optimisation project
- Agency management and budget responsibility
Mandatory Criterion (MC) – Emerging Leader in Digital Technology
My understanding of how I meet this:
- I hold senior responsibility and ownership of digital marketing strategy within a technology-driven company (fintech / digital payments)
- My role is highly external-facing, working directly with multiple partner organisations
- I am increasingly recognised beyond my employer:
- Regular strategic presentations to external partners (QBRs)
- Confirmed invitation to speak at an external industry summit in March 2026 on digital marketing strategy within the digital distribution and payments ecosystem
- I can obtain strong reference letters from:
- Senior leadership at my company
- External card partners
- External distribution partners
Question:
Is this combination typically sufficient to demonstrate “emerging leadership” and recognition beyond my employer for digital marketing profiles?
Optional Criterion 1 (OC1) – Innovation
My evidence mapping:
- At Blackhawk Network:
- Introduced new digital distribution marketing strategies and frameworks across Amazon platforms
- Designed partner-specific planning and optimisation approaches that were not previously standardised
- At YMCA:
- Led a customer journey optimisation initiative based on market and competitor research
- At WPP:
- Contributed to innovative media strategies and testing across digital and traditional channels
Question:
Would this level of strategy-led innovation (rather than product/engineering innovation) typically be acceptable for OC1 in digital marketing applications?
Optional Criterion 3 (OC3) – Commercial Impact
My evidence mapping:
- Budget ownership and financial control within my current role
- Commercial impact through:
- Performance optimisation
- ROI improvement
- Partner growth and retention
- Responsible for marketing outcomes across a large portfolio of brands (30+)
- Ability to provide performance metrics, growth figures, and partner impact statements
Question:
Is partner-driven commercial impact (rather than direct product revenue ownership) usually considered strong enough for OC3?
What I’m Looking For Feedback On
- Does this MC / OC mapping make sense for an emerging leader digital marketing profile?
- Are there any obvious gaps or weak points I should strengthen before submitting?
- Would you recommend submitting now with confirmed upcoming external speaking, or waiting until after the event?
*by - Any advice from alumni who have successfully applied under a similar marketing / strategy background would be extremely helpful.
Thanks so much in advance — really appreciate any insight.
