Grouping of Evidence for Exceptional Promise

Dear all,

Could you please help me group these into various criteria for MC and OC for exceptional promise? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  1. GitHub Profile

  • Screenshot of the GitHub page contribution chart.
  1. GitHub Contributions

  • Screenshots of contributions to three open-source projects on GitHub, including merge requests and commits.
  1. Stack Overflow Profile

  • Profile with 17,000 reputation.
  1. Volunteering
  • Assisted small businesses in Toronto in transitioning online during COVID-19. Includes letters from organizers and news articles where the mayor of Toronto mentioned it.
  1. Hackathon Achievement

  • Won an online Hackathon with my team. We built an app. Includes screenshots of Slack messages, the GitHub repository showing my commits/contributions, and links to the event page.
  1. Mentorship

  • Screenshots from a popular mentorship platform, a recognition certificate, and a link to my profile page.

  • Additional screenshot of WhatsApp messages from someone I mentored for over a year, helping them secure a better job through regular Zoom calls at least twice a week.

  1. Hackathon Mentorship

  • Mentored a team in a tech Hackathon. Includes letters from organizers and a link to the event page.
  1. Publication

  • Authored over 10 programming articles since 2019, primarily on Medium, with good engagement.
  1. Speaking Engagements

  • Recently spoke at a tech event organized by a tech company, which was streamed on YouTube.
  1. High Salary

  • Previous salary in Nigeria was 1110.23% above the average for Senior Software Engineers. Currently in the UK, my new job pays 12% above the average for my city. Can I combine these figures? Should I explain that it’s my first job in the UK and I lack UK experience?
  1. Reference Letter

  • A letter from the Chief Technology Officer of my current company about an innovative software project I’m contributing to and its anticipated impact in the UK. The project is not yet launched, but I am also contributing to other projects.

You can find examples of acceptable evidence on the technation guide. You can use that as reference and map the docs you’ve mentioned above. It’s best you do it as only you know the contents of these docs.
On a side note, WhatsApp/Slack messages usually don’t count. I still showed some group messages on my team slack to show that the impact was in fact attributed to me. But I’m not sure if they even considered that. I’d recommend using other sources.
For the salary evidence, you can show them in the same doc and compare them, add commentary or notes highlighting that it’s your first job etc. You just have to bring these numbers/stats into context.
Also, you can add up to 3 letters of recommendation. Is it only 1 you’re planning to add?

Hi @digitlimit ,

To properly group your evidence into Mandatory Criteria (MC) and Optional Criteria (OC), I recommend that you refer to the official Tech Nation guidelines. This will give you a clear understanding of the type of evidence required/suitable for each criteria. However, here are a few things to note:

  1. Ensure that the hackathon and mentorship platforms are structured
  2. Keep in mind that platforms like Limkedin & Medium may not be sufficient evidence, as noted in the guidelines
  3. You will also need at least three letters of recommendation.
