Dear All,
I am aproaching my endorsement application (peer review route) to get the Global talent visa. On the Home Office web site, I see I could apply to switch from another visa (I have now a valid skilled worker visa), and make the application for the visa, together with the endorsement to the appropiate body to be recognised as expeptional talent or promise. I would like to make the process as quick as possible, but I don’t understand how you could apply for the visa together with the endorsement. I have found this information here, but it sounds weird to me applying for the visa without having an endorsement. Did I miss something? I have found the information here: Work in the UK as a researcher or academic leader (Global Talent visa): Overview - GOV.UK. I hope someone could help me with that! It would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance! Ivan
Hey Ivan,
I may be wrong but I called Home Offie about 10x now to ask various questions - but I think you need to …
- Apply to Home Office (fill the form and pay NSH fees) and get the Unique Application no and proof of payment no.
- you have 14 days to return to Tech Nation site and use those 2x numbers to open application form Tech Nation Visa Application - Tech Nation Visa Application - apply with letters and evidence etc.
- wait for approval from Tech Nation, and they forward the answer to Home Offie who will continue to process the rest.
You should be allowed to keep working on your Skilled Worker visa while you wait for the answer. Check Home Office as it states what types of visas allow you to switch while inside UK.
Hi Jessica, thank you very much for your response! I understand now. I believe I need to pursue the endorsement initially before applying for the visa later. I was curious about timing in the application process, but it seems I can potentially apply for both concurrently if I seek an endorsement based on a prize or achievement, rather than following a peer review route. Your assistance has been incredibly helpful. Thank you very much. Ivan
Yes, you cab get the endorsement first if you have plenty of time left on your current visa (eg you have more than 12 weeks left on your visa).
I only have 4 weeks left so I will do both at the same time.
But when I tired to login tot he Tech Nation form, the message asks to PAY everything upfront at teh Home Office before I can proceed to Tech Nation application.
“Please confirm you have completed the Home Office application for Endorsement and paid relevant fees?”
Well, yes you should indeed. Fortunately I have a bit more time. My contract ends at the end of January and my actual visa will remain in place till end of March. Which date you consider as end of your visa? The end of your current contract or the end of the two extra months given by the Home Office after the visa expiration date??
The Home Office said I need to apply for the Application for Endorsement and pay all the fees before the end of my current visa expiration in mid Jan 2024 (not including the 2 extra months, I think you cannot switch on those extra months. I believe those extra months give you time to wrap up your life and move onto the next place, so no working or visa switch in that time from my understanding).
The links are here for when you need. Once you pay Home Office, you have 14 days to get the form and evidences uploaded to Tech Nation…
Stage 1 - Application for Endorsement: You must first Apply for Endorsement on the official Global Talent visa website and then also complete a Tech Nation Visa application form for assessment.
In order for your Stage 1 application to be valid you must submit your Tech Nation application form no more than 15 working days after you submitted your Home Office application. Failure to submit your Tech Nation application form will result in your application being rejected as invalid.
The Home Office will inform you if you have been successful in receiving endorsement from Tech Nation. If you are successfully endorsed, you can proceed to apply for the visa (Stage 2).
Ok, thanks a lot for this extra information. I wasn’t sure about the extra two months. Anyway, I should be able to see if I get the endorsement in order to apply before my visa expiration date. The endorsement process should take up to 5 weeks…
This forum is not for global talent research route. However, if you are looking to apply for only endorsement then don’t select the option for visa and endorsement at the same time
Hi Francisca, thanks a lot for your answer! Ivan
