Global Talent: Residency Requirements and Tax Residency?

Hi all,

I recently got my eVisa for Global Talent - Exceptional Promise. In the terms of the visa email I can’t find the residency requirements or tax residency requirements. Google has not turned up much either so asking here.

I already have some travel planned during the winter which would put me out of the UK for a few months after entering on the Global Talent Visa in late September. As my entry date for the visa is already late in the year, it would make me a non-tax resident for 05-06 UK tax year (April-April) so I wouldn’t be eligible for UK taxes that year. That’s just because the year will already be more than halfway over when I enter.

I can’t find much information on this and I just want to be sure I won’t accidentally mess anything up with the visa.

I know for ILR you need to be there the majority of each year, but for the first year where it’s not a full year I’m a bit confused how it works.

I would likely be in the UK Oct-December. I wouldn’t have a UK job yet since I know I need to leave for a few months. After that, I would return and stay there steadily and apply for UK jobs.

TBH I had previous travel booked as I wasn’t convinced I would even get the visa! Happy surprise though!

Btw the tax residency is based on this flow chart on the UK government website:

Has anyone done something similar? So nervous about messing something up.

This is the stage where you reach out to immigration lawyers  .
