GLOBAL TALENT DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY — EVIDENCE PORTFOLIO REVIEW Route: Global Talent – Digital Technology | Exceptional Promise

I am seeking an independent review of my evidence portfolio. Each item is structured around the problem addressed, my personal role, the achievement, and the evidence available to independently verify the claim.

MC2 — Career Trajectory in Digital Technology (2022–Present)

Current field is a Big 4 Consulting Firm.

N.B. Started in banking in 2017 as an IT Support Engineer, but started officially in the data analytics space in 2021.

Problem: Demonstrating a genuine, upward trajectory toward leadership in digital technology, validated by senior figures independent of a single relationship.

My importance: I have progressed at a Big Four firm from Semi Senior (Sept 2024) to Assistant Manager (Sept 2025), moving from executing analytics work to owning end-to-end design of automation and reporting solutions.

Internal achievements (quantified):

  • Led the ground-up development of Reconiq, a bank reconciliation and month-end close automation product, now in active production use with growing external commercial interest
  • Led the design and build of a 26-dashboard ALCO (Asset & Liability Committee) reporting solution for a major African bank, improving financial process efficiency by 75%
  • Built an Enterprise Risk Reporting solution unifying disparate data sources, resulting in multi-million-dollar cost saving
  • Earlier in career: reduced card printer failure rate from 9.75 to 2 per month (26.4% yearly increase in cards printed); built dashboards contributing to a profit increase of over $4,000,000

External validation (three senior professionals, three separate organisations, independent of my employer):

  • A data engineering leader (now Data & AI Engineering Technical Lead, Aviva) has followed my growth since he introduced me to my first data course, well before my current firm. Our relationship has included a public speaking platform he guested on in 2023, and, in 2025, co-panelling an international pan-African data conference together, representing our respective countries.
  • A Chief Technology Officer has known my work since 2023, initially as someone I sought guidance from. More recently, he approached me directly for hands-on technical help with a WhatsApp API integration challenge on his own project, based on independent product work I had built (BizPulse) outside my employment.
  • A senior banking IT executive who managed me early in my career, later gave a professional reference when I moved to my current firm, and subsequently engaged with me again as a client-side stakeholder when I returned to his organisation as part of a Deloitte delivery team.

Evidence: 2 promotion letters; 3 reference letters from senior professionals at 3 different organisations (Aviva, [CTO’s organisation], a major Nigerian bank), each independently corroborated by dated WhatsApp/email/LinkedIn evidence spanning multiple years, and in one case, three distinct professional relationships with the same referee across roughly a decade.

OC1 — Innovation: CCNI Platform (Dec 2025–Present)

Problem: A global virtual school (CCNI/CCBS, serving children aged 5–15 across multiple continents) had an entirely manual registration, payment, and class-assignment process, unable to scale as enrolment grew.

My importance: Sole architect and builder. I identified the operational failure points, designed the solution, and built the entire system independently, with no prior digital infrastructure to build on.

Achievement/outcome: Designed and deployed a complete end-to-end platform: online assessment, dual-currency payment processing (Paystack/Flutterwave), automated class assignment, automatic Google Classroom enrolment, PDF admission letters, student/teacher/admin portals. Currently live with 842 enrolled students and 621 registered parent accounts, actively maintained since launch (dated technical correspondence through July 2026).

Evidence: Letter of Recommendation from the organisation’s Coordinator; live dashboard metrics; dated WhatsApp correspondence showing architecture decisions, technical problem-solving (payment gateway integration), and ongoing post-launch maintenance.

OC2 — Recognition Beyond Occupation

OC2-1 — Rome Business School (2025–Present)

Problem: Students in data science and digital technology programmes need practitioners who can translate technical concepts into applied, accessible learning.

My contribution: Independently invited as Lecturer/Facilitator across multiple technical modules (Machine Learning, Python, Power BI, Data Ethics) across several cohorts since 2025.

Achievement/outcome: Consistent evaluation scores of 4.7–5.0 across cohorts.

Evidence: Reference letter from the Academic Director; combined teaching evaluations; email trail confirming 5+ distinct engagements over a year.

OC2-2 — Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (Nov 2025)

Problem: Banking sector professionals needed applied technical training on predictive analytics for risk decision-making.

My contribution: Independently invited by CIBN to facilitate a Continuing Professional Development session on Predictive Analytics and Decision Modelling.

Achievement/outcome: Session confirmed by CIBN to have enriched delegates’ knowledge base based on positive feedback received.

Evidence: Invitation letter and appreciation letter from CIBN.

OC2-3 — Global Ubuntu Data Network Panel (Nov 2025)

Problem: Limited pan-African platforms exist for discussing data and AI maturity with international representation.

My contribution: Invited to represent Nigeria as a panellist at the inaugural session, alongside senior data leaders from South Africa and the UK.

Achievement/outcome: Delivered substantive commentary on Africa’s data landscape; session recorded and publicly available.

Evidence: LinkedIn announcement naming panellists; YouTube recording of the session; host’s message thread confirming invitation and reaction to the delivered session.

IN PROGRESS — Not Yet Submitted as Formal Evidence (included for context/strategic advice)

BizPulse — AI WhatsApp Ordering Agent

Problem: Small business owners in Nigeria lose sales because they cannot respond to customer orders in real time when offline.

My contribution: Founder and sole technical architect. Identified the problem through direct fieldwork with informal retailers; currently building an AI-driven WhatsApp agent that parses conversational orders into structured, actionable data.

Current status: Actively in development. No live users yet, so I have deliberately not submitted this as OC1 evidence, given known guidance that early-stage, unproven projects weaken rather than strengthen an application. It currently appears only as forward-looking narrative in my personal statement.

Should I hold this out entirely until it has real users, or is there value in referencing it even at this stage, given it demonstrates continued innovation beyond CCNI?

SME Data Maturity Index (Research)

Problem: No structured, published benchmark exists for measuring data maturity among Nigerian SMEs.

My contribution: Designed and ran an original survey instrument; collected 85 respondent-level responses; built a scoring methodology.

Findings are being prepared for submission to TechCabal (a recognised Nigerian tech publication) for editorial publication. Not yet submitted, so not currently used as evidence anywhere in my application.

If published before I submit, would this be better positioned as additional OC2 evidence (thought leadership), or could it support OC4 (academic-style contribution) given the original research methodology involved?

I’d welcome candid feedback on criterion fit, strength of evidence, personal attribution, and anything that should be strengthened or reconsidered before submission.

OC1 is the pillar I’d rethink first. The CCNI platform is a strong build with real adoption, but the framing leans on innovation when the evidence fits commercial and technical contribution more naturally. A registration, payment and class-assignment system built on existing gateways and Google Classroom shows solid delivery, yet an assessor weighing it under OC1 will ask what is genuinely novel about the concept. The live enrolment and commercial interest are the traction OC3 rewards, so it likely carries more weight there.

The related gap is validation. WhatsApp threads showing your own architecture decisions prove you built it, not that the work is novel, and the coordinator’s letter confirms it exists and is used rather than that it breaks new ground. If OC1 stays, it needs a third party attesting to what makes the approach distinctive.

Your instinct on BizPulse is right. A pre-user project adds nothing as formal evidence and invites the self-declared flag, so keep it as forward-looking narrative in the personal statement and out of the evidence pack until it has real users.

The SME Data Maturity Index comes down to venue. A TechCabal editorial piece is thought leadership under OC2 rather than OC4, which needs genuine peer-reviewed academic publication however original the methodology. If it publishes in time, position it as an OC2 piece alongside the Rome Business School teaching, which is your most sustained recognition given the CIBN session and Ubuntu panel are each one-offs.

Thank you so much for your detailed response.

So I needed to mention that CCNI is a non-profit religious education ministry, not a commercial tech company — does the ‘product-led company’ requirement under OC3 get applied strictly to organisation type, or is there real flexibility for a case like this where all the personal-contribution evidence is otherwise completed.

Hi @TOSIN_ILESANMI,

You’ve really come a long way, and you’ve done genuinely impressive and commendable things. On your Tech Nation application, I’d suggest you don’t use the structure you proposed:

Each item is structured around the problem addressed, my personal role, the achievement, and the evidence available to independently verify the claim.

This approach will make your application unnecessarily bulky, and it may dilute the strength of your facts. For instance, the problem statement you shared below isn’t actually a problem, it’s more of a description of what you did

Problem: Demonstrating a genuine, upward trajectory toward leadership in digital technology, validated by senior figures independent of a single relationship.

On your evidence for MC2 - Career Trajectory in Digital Technology (2022–Present)
Career progression, salary, and similar career advancement indicators won’t show that you were recognised for doing something that advanced or capable of being noted in sector. Even having executives who followed your work, including reference letters, won’t sufficiently meet the recognition requirement for MC. MC needs clear evidence that your work has had sector level impact and you were recognised.

For OC1 - Innovation: CCNI Platform (Dec 2025–Present):
What you’ve described is more of a process or operational improvement than innovation. Evidence like dashboard metrics, WhatsApp correspondence, architecture decisions, payment gateway integration, and post‑launch maintenance shows the technical work you did, but it doesn’t show that you innovated something. This type of evidence fits better under MC or OC3, if CCNI/CCBS is product‑led, and you can clearly show your technical contributions and the commercial impact then it can work for OC3 and if you can show leadership role and direction for it, then MC .

For OC2 Being invited as a lecturer can work, but you need to show the actual invitation letter, that’s the recognition element. A reference letter or email trail alone won’t show how your recognised expertise advanced the sector. You need to demonstrate the impact, how many students you taught, whether sessions were recorded, how many benefited afterwards, show this through views, likes, downloads, comments and what have we. These metrics will show how your contribution moved the sector forward.

Also, OC2‑2 - Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria isn’t a mainstream tech body or association, so anything done there won’t count as sector advancement for digital technology.

Your Global Ubuntu Data Network Panel can be useful for OC, but you need to show impact like video of you delivering the commentary, number of attendees or viewers, YouTube metrics, etc. It needs to be substantial.

BizPulse - AI WhatsApp Ordering Agent is a product you built in a company you founded, so it’s a for‑profit activity. This can work for MC (leadership) and OC3 (product contribution), if the company is product‑led. But for OC2, it won’t work, OC2 must be outside your paid job or company. It needs to be voluntary sector contribution.

Your SME Data Maturity Index (Research) can work in OC1 if you can clearly show innovation with solid evidence, not just problem and contribution statements.

You’ve truly come a long way, and your journey is impressive. But for the Tech Nation application, I’d suggest you take some time to re read the guidance, study both rejected and accepted applications on this forum, and feel free to ask more questions. I am happy to respond. Right now, your listing has alignment and presentation issues, and most of the evidence doesn’t appear strong enough based on recent feedback trends.

All the best.

Thank you so much for your detailed response.

I truly appreciate

Overall, I think the portfolio is coherent, but I would be careful not to rely too heavily on the career progression itself as MC2. The promotions and senior external relationships are useful, but the stronger argument is the combination of career progression, increasing technical responsibility, measurable achievements, and independent recognition. Make sure the three referees clearly explain your personal contribution and recognition within the field rather than simply confirming your employment history.

OC1 looks like your strongest optional criterion. CCNI has a clear problem, strong personal attribution, a live product and measurable adoption. The 842 students/621 accounts make it much more compelling than BizPulse at its current stage. I would keep BizPulse out of the formal evidence for now. You can mention it briefly in your personal statement as evidence of continued innovation, but don’t make it a major part of the application until there is some real-world validation.

OC2 is also well aligned. Rome Business School and CIBN are particularly useful because they demonstrate repeated invitations to contribute outside your main employment. The Ubuntu panel adds international/community recognition, although I would treat it as supplementary rather than the centrepiece. For each OC2 document, make sure the evidence establishes that the contribution was outside your normal paid employment responsibilities and that you were invited or recognized because of your expertise.

For the SME Data Maturity Index, if published before submission, I would lean toward OC2 if the publication demonstrates thought leadership and your contribution to the wider data/technology community. OC4 would generally require a stronger academic/research context, such as formal publication, peer review or recognized research contribution, so I would not position it there simply because you conducted an original survey.

The main areas I would strengthen are independent recognition, individual attribution and external validation of outcomes. Also, avoid making the portfolio sound stronger than the evidence itself—keep the wording factual and let the documents demonstrate the leadership and impact.
