Exceptional Promise Application Guidance

Hello Everyone,

As mentioned above I am planning to apply for the Exceptional Promise route in the Global Talent Visa. At the time of application I will have 1.5 years (currently 1 year) of relevant Data Science Experience in the UK.

Mandatory Criteria 1: i) I have developed demand forecasting models improving 99.6% MAPE resulting to a potential save in 52.7 million pounds in yearly revenue.
ii) Also I have done automation which resulted in 30 man hours per month atleast resulting in 45k pounds in yearly revenue.
iii) I have AWS cloud practitioner certification.

I will have LORs from my LM, principal data scientist and head of data science supporting these claims.

OC 1: I have journals and research papers from past year published in IEEE (No 3). I can get LOR from the thesis supervisor(PHD).

OC 2: I am looking for volunteering opportunity .(not achieved yet).

Just wondering that will these be enough for the Exceptional Promise route or will I need more evidences to make a stronger case ??

Thanks in Advance.

@Souvik_Bhattacharya trust you are okay.

Do you mean you have 1.5 years of experience in Tech, or just 1.5 years in the UK? While the guidance allows Exceptional Promise applicants to have less than 5 years of experience in technology, even if they have a longer career in another field, having only 1.5 years of experience in Tech itself will present a weak narrative. But if the 1.5 years is only your UK experience, then UK work experience is not even a requirement.

For your Mandatory Criterion 1, these are descriptions of what you have done. What evidence are you submitting that shows recognition for leading the growth of a product led digital technology company, product, or team inside a digital technology company?

Also, letters from your line manager, if that is what LM means, may be dismissed. Principal and Heads of Data Science can be okay, but I suggest checking their LinkedIn profiles to ensure their current positions reflect a convincing trajectory, as titles don’t really mean much these days.

Published papers alone are not enough, they must be in a relevant field and topics, and your narrative must support them. Most importantly, you must clearly show how you made academic contributions through research. Citations, references, paper views, downloads can work, did you attend and speak at the conference? Even with these metrics, understand that someone claiming 200 citations may mean nothing if his/her career trajectory has nothing to do with academia, but for someone with an academic background, even 50 can be enough.

For OC2, since you are in the UK, there are credible volunteering opportunity options, but it depends on your overall narrative, the time of engagement, and ensuring the activity is physical or at worst hybrid.

On your question:

Just wondering, will these be enough for the Exceptional Promise route, or will I need more evidence to make a stronger case?

To be honest, no. You need to do a whole lot more.

All the best.
