Please, I just came across the Global Talent Visa (Exceptional Promise) and I am looking to apply.
I am a software Engineer(Backend) with 4 years of experience. The problem I am having is how to gather my evidence like
i once mentored group of student for an organization which the founder is a UK-base and he is willing to provide me a letter from the organization to show that i mentored in the organization, and also provide me a recommendation letter too, i also have screenshots of chat between me and the students and other mentors in the slack group, and also screenshots of my mentor dashboard and no of tasks i graded
Please, is the above enough to prove this line of statement I saw in the UK Global talent visa eligibility
you can show you’ve contributed to the digital technology sector outside of work, for example by mentoring or through collaborative projects
Then for this line
you can show you’ve set up or worked in a product-led digital technology company and have made significant technical, commercial, or entrepreneurial contributions in the digital technology sector
I have worked with more than 3 product-led companies, mostly in Fintech, and I can get 2 recommendation letters from these two companies. I have also contributed to most of the project and implemented some key features that weren’t there when I joined
I have a screenshot of the chats with the third-party providers of the features I implemented for example, Coralpay, to use as a backup transfer when NIBBS is down. I have also GitHub activity contributions and screenshots of my source code to show
Will the above be enough to prove the statement after putting the screenshots together?
Before I stop here, I saw somewhere that the recommendation letter’s first paragraph will be all about the person recommending me
Please, is there any sample I can use as a reference to give them to write me the recommendations letter
You’ll need to submit a minimum of 6 unique pieces of evidence that meet Tech Nation’s requirements.
Mandatory Criteria: At least 2 documents must demonstrate that you’ve been recognized as a potential leader in the tech field.
Optional Criteria: You must choose 2 out of the 4 optional criteria, and provide 2 pieces of evidence for each. Based on your role, I recommend selecting Optional Criteria 2 and Optional Criteria 3 (Impact).
If possible, I suggest submitting a total of 10 strong, unique documents. All evidence must be within the last 5 years and clearly show your national or international recognition, impact, and reach.
Thank you very much for your response, I think for the optional criteria, I can prove the two you recommended, but when I compile them into 3 pages, it might just end up with 2 documents for the two optional criteria, so i don’t know which other documents to add to make it up to 10 to support the optional criteria
Also, please, for the optional criteria 3, do I need to add the letter from the organization that certifies I mentored in the 3 pages or as a separate document

also the people i reached out to for recommendation letter are asking that i give them a draft for them to use and make changes then send it to me, but i dont really know the things the recommendation letter will contain to make it a strong one,

Oc2 is more of recognition of work outside your primary employment you can check for the technation guidelines for some list of recommended evidence for the criteria. For your mentorship program it must be a structured recognized program with selective criteria. Also for this you must show track record of mentoring. With in this evidence you can use two pages for evidence of mentoring let’s say public listing showing you as a mentor onsite, add impact of your personal mentorship and also it’s good if you can add testimonies from mentees, in the 3rd page you can add a reference letter from the head of the organization. Note this must be outside your day to day work activities must be unpaid also. So that’s one evidence for Oc2
Can you tell me which other evidence you have for oc2 based of technation examples
For oc3 you should focus of your personal technical impact in your work place that showcase result, impact and if there’s reach that’s awesome. Highlights personal works. Not work of other colleagues and also it’s best to add a reference letter that can back this. It can be part of the 3 recommendation letter requirement, or it can be the third page of that oc3 document. Note do not use stand alone reference letter as evidence. This letter must show your individual impact of your work.
i have screenshots of my chats with students, screenshots of my chats in the tutors slack group, screenshot of where the mentors are to upload their videos for the organization to post on their youtube channel, i have screenshots of my mentor dashboard which also show how task of students i graded, i also have screenshots of where the student reached out regarding their scores and resolving it, including the reference letter the head of organization is going to give me to show that i was a mentor in that organization
and also it was outside my day to day work
I also created a YouTube channel where I make videos on some topics in the backend in my free time and uploaded them for junior developers to watch too
i am intending to add the youtube links too
then for Oc3, i have projects i completed alone in the organizations i have worked with, and also third party integration i worked on alone, i also have screenshots of my conversations with regarding the integration and also screenshots of my source code
i also intend to add my github repository because it has multiple contributions and awards from githubs too
No have to scroll down where it shows mandatory criteria then after that it shows all 4 optional criteria’s with example of evidence in each category
Please ma, if you don’t mind, can i see a screenshot of what you are referring to, or the one because what I’m seeing when I scroll down is documents I need to apply, which is a recommendation letter, what it should be like, and Cv, and it directs me to tech nation website
Hi @Carthy I have some speaking engagements in Tech events and the evidences I provided of the two speaking events are no than two pages which means I can’t put the reference letter in the 3rd. Can I have a standalone reference letter as part of the OC2 criteria but that letter will speaking to the tech event I spoke at. Does that work?
For the speaking event can you you use one page for each event then use the 3rd page from one of the references from any of the two event that speaks on why you were chosen and also validated your claims for attendees if it’s not public. Also if they can state the impact of your talk that would be perfect.
This is perfect! Yes I have a letter of reference stating why I was invited. I also have a letter of appreciation from the same event too but I might just go with the letter of reference since there’s limited space for letter of Appreciation. Thank you @Carthy

MC 1 - Evidence of high salary showing salary increase, career progression and equity option
MC 2 - Publish article in major media talking about a bus tracker i designed for the transportation sector and implemented (showing the viewership metric on the the website)
MC 3 - I did a design and published on figma community for designers to download for free, currently have 250 downloads and counting
MC 4 - Led a team to work on a product that has over 100,000 website visitors and over 50,000 signups, also bringing more revenue for my company in that time period
Optional Criteria 2
OC 2.1 - Speaking engagement in a popular tech event in my home country (the graphic flyer with my image, pictures of me speaking on main stage, picture of the audience showing over 150 attendees, video link of my speaking
Speaking engagement at a Tech University for tech graduates about Human-Centered Design and how to navigate the real-world (I attached screenshot of email invite, programme of events, video of me speaking on main stage). Letter of reference from event organizer stating why I was invited
OC 2.3 - Evidence of starting a design community in 2023 for newbie and mid-level designers, providing design resources, posting job vacancies, publishing articles on Medium, starting a book club, and having book reviews
Optional Criteria 3
OC 3.1 - Evidence of recognition at my Fintech company (I got an award as the Technovator of the year at my company. I also attached a letter of commendation from the GMD/CEO) 2 pages to show the evidence, then the 3rd page to show the letter of commendation
OC 3.2 - Contributed to an open source project in my company currently used by over 250 employees (letter from my head of design backing my claim and talking about the significant impact the project had on the entire company) 2 pages for my evidences, 1 page for the letter
OC 3.3 - Evidence of being a key designer in a product that currently have over 10,000 downloads on google playstore, where I contributed by carried out market and user research to make sure the product is inclusive, and taking those feedback and modifying my designs which drove growth and more downloads on the playstore. (I showed figma designs and images of me being on the street and carrying out the researc. I also added letter from the CO-Founder backing my claim). 2 pages to show my evidence, 1 page for the letter

@Ifeanyi_Idiaye I already have a topic of my own, I did it on purpose because Prisca is still a little confuse on what and what evidences she needs for her own application and mine would help a bit, but if she wants me to delete then I will. I felt it would also help her. I didn’t mean any harm @vincent_prisca
Please, one of the people who wrote a recommendation letter for me is the CEO of a company I once worked with, and the letter is on the company letterhead.
My question now is,
Should I still ask for his LinkedIn Profile or CV since the letter is on company letterhead?

@vincent_prisca you dont even need to ask him for his CV, just go to his LinkedIn, click on “more” then click on “Save to PDF”, it will automatically download his LinkedIn profile as a CV
