Does a Request for Referees’ CVs Affect Approval Chances?

Could being asked to attach your referees’ CVs to your recommendation letters after submission, while you’re still awaiting final approval, be a sign of failure or reduce your chances of being endorsed at Stage 1?

No! Being asked to provide your referees’ CVs or any other missing documents does not reduce or increases your chances. It simply means something was missing from your original submission, and they need it to complete a full, holistic review.

Case on point, @chandega mentioned that the Home Office requested an additional document after he submitted, and he still received his endorsement.

All the best.

Hi @Raphael thank you very much for the detailed response. Initially I sent their linked in profiles and overview of their trajectory and publications since CVs would have taken much time to get but I have reached out to them and I hope I get them soon. I hope the request does not come with a deadline because nothing of that sort was stated but I’m just hoping to get them as soon as possible since I have recieved one already. The other referee is a Vice Chancellor of my former university which I was fortunate to emerge as the winner of the Vice Chancellor award during my MSc graduation. I’m joust hoping I get his CV or trajectory as soon as possible.

I hope you get it soon. All the best with your application.

Thank you very much Sir!

It is not an issue. They want to ensure all document are complete before sharing with the endorsing body / assessor . The good news is the assessor likely won’t know you did not have the complete pack in the first place. Wishing you the very best.

Hi @badesemowo,
thank you very much for the detailed response. Initially I sent my referees LinkedIn profiles, overview of their trajectory and publications in 3-pages pdf files for each referee since CVs would have taken much time to get. From the email I received from the caseworker, I have reached out to them for their CVs and I hope I get them soon. I hope the that email from the caseworker does not come with a deadline because nothing of that sort was stated. I’m just hoping to get their CVs as soon as possible since I have recieved one already and left with 2.

5 to 7 working days is typical but the HO officers (likely Vicki) are human.
You can also use your referee’s LinkedIn CV export (if their LinkedIn is up to date).

Hi @badesemowo, thank you very much for the explanation. I will definitely look out to that if there are delays receiving actual CVs
