Dependent Visa Duration Issue

Hello everyone!

My application for a 5-year GTV (Talent) for self and family was approved today.

The selected entry date for my spouse and kids is 32 days after my entry date.

In the email received today, I noticed that my spouse’s approved duration ends when my visa ends, making their stay 32 days less than 5 years.

Please, what is the implication of this? Does this mean they will need to renew their visa before applying for ILR?

Please, I need guidance as the only reason I paid for 5 years is to avoid future renewal stress.

Hi Henry, thanks for raising this, it’s a great question and a common concern.

I recently came across this same issue while researching from a reputable source, and here’s what I found:

Yes, for your dependents to be eligible for ILR, they must complete 5 full years of continuous residence. If their visa ends 32 days before that, they’ll likely need to apply for a short extension before qualifying for ILR.

Some applicants have contacted UKVI after approval (but before travel) and successfully requested an adjustment to match the main applicant’s timeline, so it may be worth trying.

I hope this helps. Congrats again on your visa approval!

By the way there no short term visa extension when main applicant is on ILR, youbhsfevto psyvgir additional 3 years IHS fee. Best to do the adjustments so it is five years

Thank you very much. I will do so.

Please, can you point me to where to initiate this request?

@Francisca_Chiedu Thank you for the clarification. Please, how can I initiate this process?
