Conditions for GTV - How long can I be outside the UK?

Hi Everyone,

Please can I get some clarity on the Tier 1 visa? How long can I be outside the UK without hurting my 5 year period?

Also, please what documents are submitted when applying for the ILR? Thank you.

ILR - 6mo/year x 3/5 years
Passport - approx 9mo/year x 5 years

I am not sure this information is correct. Spending 6months in the UK is a requirement. However spending 6months for each of the 3years required for exceptional talent doesn’t mean you have spent the required number of years for ILR

According to the official ILR for Global Talent (and others) article:

You must have spent no more than 180 days outside the UK in any 12 months.

According to the official Apply for citizenship with ILR article:

You should not have:

  • spent more than 450 days outside the UK during the 5 years before your application
  • spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months

So, if you target the UK Passport, rules for absences are more restricting.
