Clarification on ILR Application Timing

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the timeline for applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). Should the five-year period be counted from the start date of the visa, or from the date of first entry into the UK? My spouse and children are planning to enter about two months after me, but their visas will expire on the same date as mine. We want to avoid having to apply for an extra extension later on. If this delay is counted as part of the allowable 180-day absence, then it should be fine. I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences or any insights on this matter.

Thanks in advance!

It is the start date of your visa. Best for all of you to apply at the same time. They can join you later but have their visa same time as you. You can always consult and immigration lawyer for things related to visa, this is not the forum for this.
