Checking Eligibility for the Exceptional Talent Route

Hi, I’m preparing my application as a non-technical Product Manager and I wanted to check whether I should apply under Exceptional Talent or Exceptional Promise.

I’ve gathered the following evidence so far:

Recommendation Letters

• R1, Director of Digital Services, former company outside the UK

• R2, CPO from a fintech partner outside the UK

• R3, GM of Brand Management, former company outside the UK

Mandatory Criteria

• MC1, SuperApp leadership and impact, including roadmap and metrics (dashboard screenshot)

• MC2, Strategy and product leadership evidence, presentations and internal documents

• MC3, Fintech innovation leadership, including feature-launch evidence

Optional Criteria

• OC1.1, Fintech features innovation pack

• OC1.2, API Marketplace innovation pack

• OC1.3, SuperApp multi-service integration innovation

• OC2.1, KPI graph pack, including downloads, MAU, fintech users, retention and more

• OC2.2, Indexed revenue and adoption dashboard

• OC2.3, Partner and internal confirmations of commercial impact

• OC3.1, UK fintech contribution evidence, based on my recent role with a fintech company in the UK

For context, I worked in this Product Manager role from 2017 to 2023 before moving to the UK as a student, so I have over five years of experience in this position.

Based on this experience and evidence, would you recommend applying under the Exceptional Talent category?

@Rezaz

The status of those writing the LOR appears to be okay; however, check their LinkedIn profiles to ensure they have a convincing career trajectory.

MC1: SuperApp leadership and impact, including roadmap and metrics (dashboard screenshot)

This is weak because a roadmap does not demonstrate any form of leadership, and metrics shown via a dashboard screenshot might be viewed as self authored. To show leadership, you may want to include a reference letter from a leading industry expert describing your work, lines of code from public repos, or news clippings about the SuperApp. - Focused on recognition

MC2: Strategy and product leadership evidence, presentations, and internal documents

This is very weak and can be considered self authored. You may consider a letter from senior global commercial executives, clients, or partners; audited statements of account showing growth, salary details, share options, benefits and so on.

MC3: Fintech innovation leadership, including feature-launch evidence

MC2 evidence already focuses on leadership, and part of MC1 also focuses on leadership. So MC1, MC2, and MC3 are related and can be combined as one evidence set: “Evidence to show leadership.” Also, including feature launch evidence sounds more like a description than a strong evidence piece.

Based on this experience and evidence, would you recommend applying under the Exceptional Talent category?

Would it be okay if I suggest you read through the Tech Nation guide first before seeking an answer to this question? You can find it here: https://technation-globaltalentvisa-guide.notion.site/
