Do anyone here had experience or know anybody who got ILR for their dependent (wife) by combining GTV dependent and student visa dependant to meet the five-year requirement? I’ve just spoke with an immigration solicitor, and he advised me that my partner can’t use the time spent as a dependant on my student visa, and she must be dependent on work visas for 5 years in order to be eligible for ILR as a dependent. He told me that if she applied now, her application would be refused, and she would have to reset the time, beginning from zero. This is quite disappointing as my wife’s visa will expire next week, and I hoped she could apply for ILR using both dependant visas (GTV and student). Any help with this issue would be highly appreciated.
