Hi,
I develop themeforest wordpress theme people buy it can it be use as evidence in Global telent endorsement
That is obviously not in a product-led digital technology companies role, that is more of a gig worker role. you might need to revisit the official technation guide
@sodiqotijani Why do you think this is a gig worker role?
Are you familiar with WordPress and its themes in general?
Would you consider Elementor or Divi to be companies that are not product-led digital companies.
They have thousands of customers and they just sell WordPress themes and plugins.
Muhammad_Waqas is doing the same. He is just not selling the product from his personal website but selling it on a marketplace.
I do know WordPress and Themeforest, Technation generally frowns on applicants whose work cannot be classified as within a product-led tech business. consider that some digital agencies also have thousands of clients, but working within such an agency does not count. Also, just theme-forest-related work alone will not suffice to get endorsed even if it is considered
I am sorry I still do not understand your point. Can you please explain why you think a WordPress plugin or theme is not a product-led tech business?
In my opinion a WordPress theme or a WordPress plugin is a product.
A product that can only be used with WordPress.
I really just want to understand why you think a plugin or theme is not a product as I plan to use similar evidence.
I think so it is same way as we download IOS and Android , if ios and android paid app work as product then wordpress theme and plugins should work as same
It can be challenging to convince assessors that you are not a consultant or contractor when working as a WordPress developer. However, there are ways to demonstrate a product-led approach. If you work with reputable companies like Qode Interactive or other verified authors, who specialize in developing plugins and themes rather than creating websites for individual clients, it strengthens the case for a product-led focus. In summary, In all you do, do not showcase your evidence like you are a website designer.
Because making a WordPress theme is an incredibly simple thing to do and not really something you would expect to be the primary basis for a visa that targets talented individuals.
Sure but if you make a simple app that does nothing, isn’t innovative or doesn’t produce a high revenue it is not eligible.
A word press theme isn’t something that requires much skill or talent at the level expected of the visa.
I would hope that an application using a WordPress theme as the primary basis for the application gets rejected as otherwise that really undermines the credibility of the visa.
consider that some digital agencies also have thousands of clients, but working within such an agency does not count.
Agency work is not building new products for customers. In a WordPress agency they would be using website builders, existing themes and plugins to quickly create a website that the customer wants. Agency is not a product led business.
But the agency is using Themes and Plugins developed by other companies. Those companies are product led business.
However, there are ways to demonstrate a product-led approach. If you work with reputable companies like Qode Interactive or other verified authors, who specialize in developing plugins and themes rather than creating websites for individual clients, it strengthens the case for a product-led focus.
Exactly this, there is a difference between a consultant and a developer. A consultant would install WordPress, install a theme, install a few plugins, configure them and send it to the client.
Whereas a developer is the one who developed the theme, the plugin or even WordPress. WordPress is open source and anyone at anytime can start contributing to it.
However saying that you need to be working with companies like Qode Interactive here is incorrect. Why does it have to be a reputable company. Why can’t someone be selling or developing plugins on their own.
Are you saying that if the developer of wpForo plugin applied for endorsement he won’t get it because he has his own personal website and the plugin is not available on a website like Qode Interactive. The wpForo plugin has over 20,000+ active installation and 300+ 5 star reviews and adds so many features to WordPress. Basically allows you to add forums to a WordPress website.
Now if you have visited the link you will see gVectors Team as the contributor/developer and if you click on the name it takes you to their website. What if instead of gVectors it was just developed by 1 person for examples John Doe and it said John Doe as developer/contributor and if you clicked it then it took you to JohnDoe .com would that suddenly mean the 20,000+ installations and 300+ 5 star reviews and all the features and codes now useless because we can’t see the work to a reputable company like Qode Interactive?
Because making a WordPress theme is an incredibly simple thing to do and not really something you would expect to be the primary basis for a visa that targets talented individuals.
A WordPress theme is a software and like all software you can spend as much time you want to add more features to it. Creating a simple theme would be simple it would be like coding a simple app such as calculator in any programming language or a calculator app for a mobile phone. The same way there are complex applications and software there are complex WordPress themes and plugins which add a lot of features to a WordPress website.
A word press theme isn’t something that requires much skill or talent at the level expected of the visa.

I am sorry but this is very wrong. There are a lot of WordPress Theme and Plugin companies that have teams of developers working on their products.
Divi, Elementor, Astra, OceanWP, Avada are just some of the popular examples I can think of right now that have teams of developers working on their products and have a big userbase.
If building or replicating Divi, Elementor, Astra, Ocean WP or Avada would not require any skill or effort then why don’t you try to replicate it in a couple of weeks and release it?
I have already tried to explain the difference between a WordPress consultant and a developer above and if you want to understand and learn more about the difference I would be happy to explain further so you can get a better understanding. If you have any questions @Leon please let me know because you are very wrong to say developing a WordPress theme takes no skill or talent.
I think most of you don’t have a good understanding of WordPress or the WordPress eco system. And it does not help that a lot of people who only know how to configure WordPress themes and plugins like to call them WordPress developers which is wrong.
There is a difference between someone who just installs and configure stuff and someone who codes and develops the software the first person is installing and configuring.
A consultant would install WordPress, install a theme, install a few plugins, configure them and send it to the client.
Wrong, a consultant is anyone who provides expert advice although sometimes they might perform some technical work to get the client started, but ultimately after the consultation phase the client takes ownership.
What you are describing is a technician / sys admin.
Are you saying that if the developer of wpForo plugin applied for endorsement he won’t get it because he has his own personal website and the plugin is not available on a website like Qode Interactive. This is a plugin, not a theme, the original poster mentioned themes on themeforest. And yes I believe the vast majority of those would not qualify and are not particularly impactful and innovative on their own. If combined with other evidence then maybe.
If building or replicating Divi, Elementor, Astra, Ocean WP or Avada would not require any skill or effort then why don’t you try to replicate it in a couple of weeks and release it?
Again I never said anything about complex plugins with custom made design tools, those are obviously a lot of work. Using plugins to defend themes is disingenuous.

I am fully aware of this even though I am not a wordpress developer and my field is closer to hardware and low level programming, and I completely agree with you here. However OP has provided little evidence of doing anything substantial in wordpress.
I understand your point. If a theme is simple then it won’t and it should not count, I agree with this.
But if there are useful features in the theme and it is more complex the it should count. Such as a real estate theme with custom post types, custom fields, filtering and search options.
