I have a few questions about the stage 1 application for people who have same company experience for last 5 years OR digital-tech company A for 3 years and non-tech company B for 2 years.
For both the scenarios, the most relevant criteria chosen is MC, OC1 and OC3.
Q1. Is it ok for all 10 evidences, LORs, support letters to be from the same company?
Q2. The applicant has a couple of different roles in last 5 years at same company to show slight variation in Product Management, Product strategy and Growth/Launch roles. Will this work?
Q3. Assuming that the couple of years experience in the non-tech company B won’t be relevant to showcase?
Q4. Does selection, participation and top rank at an incubator to pilot a nature-tech company count towards any criteria if they did not pursue further to actually build the company? Hence cannot show any impact.
Q5. Consulting on pricing and growth strategy for a sustainability focus tech startup (pre-launch stage) will count towards any criteria?
I will share my opinion on that:
Q1 - for me, seems fine, I have similar case, I think from the TN standpoint, working for about 5 years in one company raise your chances to become an industry leader
Q2 - if there is a chance to clearly demonstrate your innovation (OC1) and impact (OC3) per one of the positions - better to focus on this. You can mention this personal development in your statement to give a sense of a story.
Q3 - I would say so
Q4 - again better to focus on strengths than variability, so you may show this if this company has achieved something decent
Q5 - When reading the TN guidance, I get an opinion they do not value much any consultancy, apart of some proofable mentorship work in business accelerators. Again, if this startup showed any commercial success and you can bond your impact to it - this may count
Not advisable for all LOR to be from the same company. It doesn’t demonstrate that there are people in the wider industry who know your who. I have seen comments in rejected applications that do not support using Letters from the same pool.
It is ok to use evidence from the same company but applicant must show significant impact with compelling metrics.
DON’T show evidence for consulting related roles.
Being selected in an incubator is not useful if you can’t show significant a achievements such as investment raised, growth and lead generated or similar metrics backed with letter from the programme
