Request for Review: Global Talent Visa - Exceptional Promise, Technical Co-Founder
Hi everyone,
I’m preparing an application under Exceptional Promise and would really appreciate some feedback on my proposed evidence structure.
My main questions are:
- Are my evidence documents correctly matched to the criteria?
- What would an assessor be most likely to discount?
Thank you in advance.
My profile
Technical Co-Founder and CTO of an AI-enabled property technology startup.
I led the product architecture, engineering, AI integration, technical implementation and deployment. The company launched commercially in February this year, has two paying clients and has received ₦14million (~£7600) from its first deployments.
My background is in machine learning engineering and data science. I previously trained and worked as a mechanical engineer before completing a masters in data science.
Letters of recommendation
Submitted separately from the evidence documents:
- Staff Research Scientist at a major global technology company (has patents and several research publications in AI/machine learning)
- Senior Lecturer in Computer Science (PhD holder with several research publications)
- Founder of an AI language technology company currently serving more than 100 clients
Mandatory criteria
MC Evidence 1 - Technical publication feature
A bylined editorial coverage in a recognised African tech publication that mainly talked about:
- my role as Technical Co-Founder and CTO;
- how I turned an early commercial idea into a technical product;
- the architecture and connected workflows I designed;
- the AI layer and customer-engagement functionality;
- deployment to paying clients.
MC Evidence 2 - National business publication feature
A separate bylined feature from a national business publication that mainly covered:
- the market problem and commercial opportunity;
- the company’s first two paying clients;
- the payment received from deployments;
- the dedicated white-label business model;
- my role in converting the commercial concept into a functioning platform.
Both were published recently and within a short period of each other.
I do not currently have awards, speaking engagements or judging experience.
Optional criteria 1 - Innovation
OC1 Evidence 1 - Product innovation
A three-page document explaining:
- the problem being solved;
- how the platform differs from booking-focused property software;
- the three-layer model of operational infrastructure, data and AI;
- connected workflows across bookings, inspections, damages, maintenance, payments and staff activity;
- AI analysis, WhatsApp communication and AI-assisted campaign calls;
- my role in defining and building the product.
Supporting material would also include product screenshots, workflow diagrams and evidence from the deployed system.
OC1 Evidence 2 - Commercial validation
A three-page document containing:
- management accounts;
- invoices;
- payment records;
- deployment dates;
- evidence of payment received from two clients;
- a short explanation of what was delivered to each client.
Optional Criterion 3 - Significant Technical Contribution
OC3 Evidence 1 - Technical architecture and leadership
A three-page document covering:
- the overall system architecture;
- database and domain design;
- role-based access control;
- connected operational workflows;
- AI analysis and recommendation functionality;
- communications and integrations;
- important technical decisions and trade-offs;
- my personal responsibility from design through deployment.
OC3 Evidence 2 - Private repo evidence
The repository is private because it contains commercial code.
Evidence would include:
- repo metadata and structure;
- dated commit history;
- selected meaningful commits;
- relevant code extracts;
- deployment or release history;
- explanations of the significance of my contributions.
OC3 Evidence 3 - Co-founder statement
A detailed statement from the commercial founder confirming:
- the technical direction I introduced;
- the systems I personally designed and built;
- my role in engineering, integrations, testing and deployment;
- how my contribution enabled the company to serve paying clients.
This would be supported by repo history, deployment records and commercial evidence.
Questions
- I kinda wonder if the media articles would be seen as recognition of me personally, or mainly publicity for the company. Do you think the two independent media features are enough for MC?
- Both publications were released last month and within two weeks of each other. Would that be an issue, especially as I already have the rest of the application ready and am looking to submit in early August?
- Would the commercial evidence validate innovation, or should it sit under OC3 instead?
- Is there anything obviously duplicated or incorrectly categorised?
- Are there any other gaps that weaken the application generally or anything that would need more evidence?
