Questions about Letter of Recommendation

Good morning everyone.

Thank you for the great work you do on this platform. I want to ask a question about the people that can provide recommendations.

I am a Data Scientist in a product led company. But can people who know my work in the Non governmental sector in Nigeria recommend me.

Person 1 is the founder of an NGO while I have been a co-organizers in this organization for the past 4 years. We organize AI classes and how to transition to AI.

Person 2 - Is global talent endorsed and a founder but our first official interaction was when we planned an hackathon together. He has second hand knowledge of my experience.

Person 3 - is a well known senior cybersecurity expert. We also interacted in the NGO space when an NGO he volunteers in, sponsored an event we organized. He has second hand knowledge of my technical prowess.

In my Evidences, I will include proofs of my technical prowess, such as GitHub stat, screenshot of code at an organization I work and high salary too. I believe those will prove my technical skills.

I want to confirm if people I have not worked with in a paid or technical job can recommend me for GTV?

Is thr founder of the NGO an expert in the field of digital technology? Do all three recommenders know you for more than 12 months?

What evidence do you have for the mandatory criteria? Which two optional criteria are you selecting and what evidence do you have to show that you meet this criteria.

RoL from NGO won’t be strong enough since it’s not digital lead , better to get from someone from digital lead companies.

Yes, they are all experts and have very good public profile. I have known all of them for at least 3 years.

Mandatory

  • You led the growth of a non-profit organisation or social enterprise with a specific focus on the digital technology sector, as evidenced by reference letter(s) from leading industry expert(s) describing your work, or as evidenced by news clippings or similar evidence.

I will talk about my impact as a co-organizer at the NGO for the past 4 years. We have trained at least 800 people in AI/ML. We have partnered with some organisation. I can also get a reference letter from the co-founder of the NGO (different from the person providing LOR)to back it up.

  1. High Salary.

  2. You have held or hold a significant expert role participating on panels, or individually, assessing the work of others in the same field or a field of specialisation related to the digital technology sector.
    I was part of the panel to access the performance of students/learner after the completion of a learning cohort. A mail was sent to me, that i can use to prove this and also tweet to thank us for attending.

Optional Criteria 2

  1. I have co-organized 3 hackathons in the AI space. I will include a letter of reference from one of our sponsors on my impact.

  2. I spoke at two tech events. The bigger one, i was the first speaker but not the keynote speaker. The second one, i was one of the keynote speakers but its not a major tech event.

  3. Mentorship

I was a mentor for 3 different groups of learners transition to AI in 2019 and 2021

Optional Criteria 3

  1. High Salary

  2. Snapshot of the code at the product led company i work and i will talk about my impact at the organisation that i work.

  3. I was nominated by my organisation and won a National Award for my work in the tech division of a financial institution . I will back this by a reference letter by my team lead in that organisation. I have a plaque and new clipping of the award and event.

Person 1 is a Phd student in AI/ML and co-founder of the NGO. She has a very good public profile.

Person 2 and 3 (cybersecurity expert) both work in product led companies and have very good public profile. Person 2 is a cofounder of a product led company and software developer. He was endorsed by Global Talent too.

The concern i have is that, we have only worked together in the NGO space and they only have second hand information of my technical skills.
