Product Manager: Review of my application as exceptional Promise

Hi @Francisca_Chiedu , @pahuja and everyone. My name is Naomi, I’m a product manager. I’ve been preparing to apply for exceptional promise endorsement as a product manager with over 3 years of experience. I have worked at about 2 startups (including my current company, HostBeak).

The Recommendation letters i have are from:
1 - CEO at current company and also 2-time founder of a startup.
2 - CEO of my former company where I worked as a Junior Product Lead and once was an Intern.
3 - CEO of the company I was a contract staff at after initially volunteering. He was also the senior Product Manager at a Finance Company in the United Kingdom

MC

  1. Evidence of payment for my jobs. Screenshot of earnings for roles I was contracted for and also for the Initiative I led
  2. 2 media recognitions - One being invited to a radio show to speak on “Creative ways to work in Product”. Pictures of me during the show with the organizers and my co-invitee. Picture of the post about the show on social media with it also being uploaded on Spotify, Audiomack and Google Podcast. Other media Recognition being a newspaper publication about how “Business should adopt the principles of product Management”. Screenshot of the Publication and a link to it.
  3. My work as a product manager, building a web app from scratch at my current company. Attached screenshot to my employment letter, highlighting my role in the company, link of the products on live.

1 - My role at a company as a Contract Project Lead for an initiative that trained 1000 creators across Africa, giving them their personal websites and teaching them to monetize it, my Offer Letter, screenshots of the promotions on the internet. Screenshots of me facilitating daily standups and post about creators who finished from the program on social media

  1. Proof of me volunteering as a Physiologist(My studied course). My organization partnering with Red Cross, awareness walks and vaccination drives and binging awareness to communities.
  2. Proof of me Teaching Product Management at a non -technical bootcamp which trained over 50 students with about 30 graduating. Images of me teaching on different days. The event poster, The event is online with images of the graduating students alongside all their tutors including me.
  • IWD event with Policy Alert that ran for 2 days. Images of me speaking on Digital Literacy, link to the event and images on social media.

4 - Reference letter from the Chief Operating Officer of my former Company. We worked on an Initiative to help Business owners with technological tools to enhance their businesses together. Link to the initiative, posts of its launch and subsequent continuation even after my leaving the company.

Hi @Naomi

MC:

  • the first doc is not strong enough unless you are proving high salary. They just don’t want to see compensation they want to see high remuneration. Unless it is above the market pay scale marker I would skip it

  • what kind of engagement, likes, shares etc are there on the post on social media and the video links?

  • ensure the last one is not just about your day to day job but clearly highlights your significant contribution to the product you built, its impact (quantified). Do you have a support letter validation your contribution and impact? I would recommend having one.

Which are the 2 OCs you have selected? Can you please highlight and split the evidence list under those 2 selected OCs?

Hi @pahuja,
For my Media Recognition, the paper is a national daily so it has a wide reach and the radio show has a substantial following and monthly listeners as it doubles as a podcast as well, the shares on social media are not as large as the paper but it is much.

Ok. for the product built, will a reference letter in addition suffice?

For my OC, I will be using,

  1. A product I oversaw building that shows impact, from communication and email trail(Will a reference letter be a good addition to this case?)

  2. Evidence of my volunteering and its impact on the affected communities.

  3. My teaching at 2 different Conferences

  4. My employment letters across the years showing my growth

  5. Reference letter from the Chief Operating Officer of my former Company. We worked on an Initiative to help Business owners with technological tools to enhance their businesses together. Link to the initiative, posts of its launch, and subsequent continuation even after my leaving the company.

I meant which specifically 2 OCs out of the 4 OCs mentioned are you using?

I think you still need to take your time to read the tech nation. First, evidence of your work done in contracting is not eligible.

For the radio show, this may be for suitable for OC2 What’s the viewership of the programme and how does thus advance the sector oe show recognition.

Proof of volunteering as a physiologist is not related to the field of tech.

Overall, the evidence are not sufficient to get uou endorsed for global talent.
