I recently got rejected when I applied for Exceptional Talent. I was told I didn’t meet the criteria and that some of my recommenders are not in tech organisations.
Now, I am preparing to reapply again. I have 10 years of experience in the news publication media as a data analyst, scraping data to tell stories. Previously, I submitted my application as a tech leader in the media tech industry in AI, and my evidence was that I built three news websites and trained people on using AI technology. I also showed metrics of people using the websites; however, I forgot to show evidence of the tech training website I built. But I shared evidence of the training I conducted and screenshots of social media messages and website impact of my work. I also added a letter from a senior university lecturer about how my training has made an impact in his school to make drastic decisions. But they rejected it and said the letter isn’t clear and also that the impact on social media isn’t accepted.
Now, I have decided to reapply with additional information, which is as follows:
- I recently built an AI-powered tool for transcription, editing, and summarisation of text and PDF/DOC files in multiple languages. Originally built for newsrooms, but now security personnel, lawyers, and non-profits are using our platform. I independently built this web app, and currently, we have nearly 1,000 active users from 95 countries just a month after launch. I will show evidence of the web app, active user metrics, and YouTube video and share the URL. I will show a screenshot of a training session where I was invited to teach business people how to use AI in their businesses.
- A screengrab of my tech website I built.
- The training I conducted with people for both technical and non-technical skills on AI application.
- I already have more than 2 years in cybersecurity and IT, and I secure the database and website of my organisation. I also help organisations to conduct software testing. An evidence of this will be the letter of one of the organisations I helped to detect risk and recommend patches.
- A digitally clear copy of the letter from the lecturer on how my training and tool have helped their institution.
- I will show publication of my work in globe AI on how I am using AI in media publication.
- A letter from a cybersecurity tech founder.
- A letter from a digital media AI tech founder.
- The third person has a training organisation that trains women on coding and has been training since 2017. The organisation has received funding from different organisations, including banks, to train people, and many of the trainees have been employed by banks, schools, organisations, etc. However, the organisation’s activities are non-profit, meaning they don’t make money from the people they train, but organisations pay or support their work. Is such a founder fit to be part of the three people to give me a recommendation?
- I am a founder and registered my company in the UK and Nigeria in 2023. I will submit my organisation’s certificates of registration.
- Screenshots of training I conducted online and in person.
- I am considering asking some security personel using our AI-powered tool to give letter on how its helping them. Is this neccesary?
Please, are these strong pieces of evidence i have for now. Are they strong, and which should I use for OC1 and OC2, and what generally can you advise me? I am also confused about whether I should go for AI or app development or which I should choose, considering my over 10 years of experience as a data analyst in media and now my less than five years of experience as a founder with cybersecurity skills, AI app development, and cloud engineering managing and securing all our backend and cloud platforms, such as Firebase and Google Cloud platforms, which are my core skills and role in my organisation besides being a founder.
Should I go for Exceptional Talent or Promise?
