How strict is the 5 year criteria? (Exceptional talent)

Hi all,

As per TN’s MC criteria: An applicant evidencing EXCEPTIONAL TALENT must show that they have been recognised as a leading talent in the digital technology sector in the last 5 years.

Whereas none of the OC criteria mention anything about the number of years.

Is it safe to interpret that MC criteria requires 5 yrs whereas OC does not? Anyone got rejected because their experience was not in the last 5 years?

Thanks in advance
Himanshu

It is implied that it applies to all criteria. You can’t use any evidence that is more than 5 years. Even in your recommendation letters, your recommenders should avoid mentioning activities that are over 5 years old

Thank you @Francisca_Chiedu that will change a few things for my application. I had some solid product development experience as product manager in 2014-17 for which I was planning to write 1-2 evidence docs and a recommendation letter today with the CEO.

Are you absolutely sure about this that I should not use this experience?

Hi @alexnk @May @ask4jubad wanted to check with you as well if you have the same or different knowledge about the 5 year criteria as Francisca. Appreciate each of your responses

Yes @heman, someone was rejected and one of the points raised was that their recommender mentioned an achievement that happened more than 5 years ago.

You can show long term details in your CV anyway, but I’d recommend that evidences to satisfy MC and the OCs should be recent i.e. within 5 years.

Yes, we are absolutely sure that you need to include those MC and OC in the past 5 years only.

The only document that could contain over 5 years experience and activities is your CV to show your track record in the field. Everything else about your application should be in the past 5 years to be on the safe side.
