Hi Klone.

First of all, I recommend reading the official Tech Nation guidance [https://technation-globaltalentvisa-guide.notion.site/]. It’s crucial to align your evidence with the criteria structure.

You’ll need to provide at least two Mandatory Criteria (MC) and choose two Optional Criteria (OC), with two strong pieces of evidence per OC. Based on your list, here’s some feedback:

OC1 (Innovation)

The example you mentioned - high salary and leading product development - seem more aligned with Mandatory Criteria, especially if they show personal impact and exceptional ability. Note that salary alone does not qualify as innovation for OC1.

OC2 (Recognition)

A letter of recommendation from your employer isn’t sufficient on its own. For OC2, you need to show how you’ve been recognised for your work outside your immediate occupation. The letter can support this, but there must be concrete, external contributions or accolades.

OC3 (Impact)

Your year-long GitHub contribution could be relevant, depending on the depth and visibility of your work. If it includes original work or impactful open-source projects, it could also support MC(a significant contributor to a substantial open source project), OC1 (if innovative), OC2 (if externally recognised), or OC3 (if it created measurable impact). Stack Overflow contributions could be helpful too - especially if they demonstrate thought leadership or community influence.

OC4 (Academic Contributions)

Your listed examples don’t seem to meet OC4. This criterion typically requires evidence of academic authorship, mentorship, or research contributing to the digital technology sector. Participation in a hackathon or recruiters reaching out not qualify.

I’ve skipped MC1-MC3 since those require a closer look at the actual content, and I wouldn’t want to give advice without a proper review.

My advice would be:

  • Select two clear OCs where you have strong, well-matched evidence .
  • For each criterion, provide two pieces of solid, distinct evidence .
  • Cross-reference your examples with other accepted applications on the forum or guidance docs to check relevance and strength.
