Exception Promise Evidence List - Please help review

Hi guys, I plan to apply for TNV late next year (around september), but I want to start preparing now. What’s delaying me is that I don’t have any public mentorship or speaking experience as evidence. I’m hoping to work on that. However, I do have a history of volunteering for an organization that provided such a community.

What do you think of these evidences? I can take some out, but this is everything I can think of right now.

MANDATORY CRITERIA

Mandatory evidence 1 –

• Evidence: My work at CompanyA (An african fintech product) as the design lead for the Business and Remittance product, where I successfully made a contribution by spearheading the mobile designs immediately the acquisition of this business sector was made, then proceeded to lead the design team in the brand design and creation of other products. Within a year of releasing these products, CompanyA rose to top 12 fintech companies in Africa, being one of the 3 Nigerian companies on the list.

Mandatory evidence 2 –
• Category: You command a high salary or other remuneration for your services, as evidenced by commercial or employment contracts with salary information including any bonus and equity options and history of earnings.
• Evidence: High salary (based on Nigerian earning curve for my profession) compared in Glassdoor and PayScale. Backing up with my contract letter.
(CompanyA - FT contract. CompanyB - FT contract. CompanyC - PT, salary information and equity offering. CompanyD - PT contract. Company E - 3 months commercial contract. Invoice and payment information).
Mandatory evidence 3 –

• Evidence: (No Code - Design) Voluntary Job at OrganizationA, an NGO design school, offering my services as a designer, UI/UX, graphics, brand. Evidence compilation: Working with the founder from scratch to build the registration website, graphics and coordinating cohort registration, reaching out to mentors to join us, designing and publishing marketing flyers for the cohorts, coordinating the students, designing and delivering certificates and speaking for and representing the organization on twitter spaces. Leading the growing design and marketing team. Recommendation Letter from founder (K)

Mandatory evidence 4 –

• Evidence: Individually assessing the work of others in the same field. Dated screenshots from U, C, E, M and M. (Testifiers from U, E, C - who are now employed)

OPTIONAL CRITERIA
OC2 evidence –
• Category: Evidence of mentorship

Numbers to show impact. Slack screenshots, Figma screenshots, Documents related. Salary information and Promotion. Letter from direct line manager and Head of the Business Banking Product.

@pahuja kindly help with your feedback please. I’ve heard some people get endorsed without much of public speaking or awards or even lots of community engagement, it’d be good to hear your thoughts on this one

Hi @Joycered

MC1: ensure you include quantified impact of your contribution.

MC3: align as much possible to digital impact on the NGO and quantified metrics.

OC3.1: is your contribution only to the pitch deck? If so, it won’t be significant.

OC3.3: please include quantified impact. Contract roles aren’t qualified so you will need to position slightly differently.

It’s good you have a year to go for application so you can strengthen your OC2 and even get more stories for MC and OC3.

Mandatory evidence 1

Looks good! Be precise in describing how your designs led the product to the top 12 fintech products in the country. You should clearly demonstrate it in the evidence. I would not focus on branding as it does not relate to the elevation of digital technology.

Mandatory evidence 3 –

What was the impact of the work you have done for the NGO or impact in the field? All of the activities you’ve done don’t tell themselves. Again, pay attention to the contribution you’ve made as a UX/UI designer as a specialist in the digital sector.

Mandatory evidence 4 –

It would be great to have a recommendation letter from somebody who you mentored and helped grow as a specialist.

Please remember you can’t use one person for different recommendation letters (for the required recommendation letter and a letter that will support evidence).

Thank you @pahuja

My contribution to OC3.1 is not just the pitch deck. I worked on everything design as an employee. I just thought adding the design of the pitch deck might be a good addition, especially if we’re able to raise money through it. Would you advice i take that out and just concentrate on the other services?

Thank you!

Thank you @OceanicT

Okay i can take out branding.

The NGO had a community of over 5k members. 3 successful cohorts for different fields in design, all of which i actively contributed to in organizing. I have the contract letter for this that clearly indicates this was a voluntary work. I also have slack, whatsapp group chats of the admins, Figma designs of me working on the social campaigns for each cohorts, selecting best students and designing certificates. Will that count as significant contributions?

I can get a recommendation letters of two of my mentees that are now employed.

Contact, group chats etc. confirm you were involved in the particular activity.
Letters from the employees sound like convincing the positive outcome of your action.

I can surely get a letter of recommendation from the owner of the NGO indicating i was a key player in starting and organising for the years it ran. Thank you!
