Hi guys,
Please could you help me with the requirements question. I’m thinking about applying for the Tech Nation Visa but I am not too sure that I have the relevant experience.
- For the last 5 years I’m working as the independent contractor with various software companies (data protection, cybersecurity, SaaS). I provide lead generation services, primarily by performance marketing & SEO methods. I am not an in-house employee.
- Additionally, during the last 5 years I ran a software distributor as the CEO, so I was involved in solution selling and commercial leadership. But this is not a product-led business, it’s a local distributor of such a company.
- Last time I worked in-house in a product-led company is 2006-2009. Is this not relevant now?
Does this all mean that I don’t comply with the visa requirements?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Only the TechNation panel can make decisions - all we can give you is guidance - so please take it with a pinch of salt.
What you did in 2006-09 should be considered largely irrelevant, unless you can link it to something you are doing more recently. The technation site clearly says the following
Any activity you are providing as evidence of recognition should have occurred within the past 5 years.
Now, your more recent career seems to be largely in the category of
- Service Delivery, Process Delivery, Outsourcing, Consultancy (technical or management), ERP Consultancy, Systems Admin and all related fields.
which is a criteria for someone being unsuitable.
There might be more to your case than you let on and there might be a possibility to present it as a product-led candidature, but without knowing much more, I would say it looks challenging.
As I said, please take it with a pinch of salt.
