Applying for Global Talent (Exceptional Promise) – No Industry Experience, Just Projects & Passion

Hi everyone,

I’m getting ready to apply for the Global Talent Visa (Exceptional Promise route) and would love to hear your thoughts or feedback.

I’m currently in my final year studying BSc Software Engineering, and I’m expected to graduate in July 2025. While I don’t have any industry experience yet, I’ve spent the last year focusing deeply on frontend design using Flutter, with a strong emphasis on UI/UX.

Here are some of the front-end projects I’ve designed and built myself (all in Flutter):

  1. Mental Health App for Students – clean, calming interface with daily check-ins and support features
  2. Student Dashboard – shows deadlines, progress bars, and event reminders
  3. Chat Support App – responsive design with user-side chat UI
  4. Booking App UI – simple flow for scheduling and calendar overview
  5. Finance Tracker – dashboard-style UI with expense charts and summaries
  6. Health Check App – wellness-focused, light-themed with animation
  7. Learning Tracker – course progress, quiz cards, and profile page
  8. Task Manager – intuitive to-do interface with priority filters
  9. Job Finder App UI – job cards, filters, and detail modal
  10. AI Companion UI – minimal layout with messaging and interaction logs

I’m also putting together a short demo video showcasing all 10 UIs, and I’ve written brief case study summaries for each one. None of them are live yet, but all are on GitHub, and I’ve documented my design choices and thought processes.

I’ve received two recommendation letters from my user experience professors, who have supervised and reviewed my work. I’m currently working on gathering my third letter and finalising my personal statement and CV.

Would really appreciate any advice or feedback from those who have successfully applied — especially other frontend-focused applicants!

Hi @Osarenoma_Daniel_Ima would recommend you to read through the official TN guidelines and requirements for endorsements and spend next 1-2 years building solid work experience keeping the criteria in mind.

Your current evidences won’t be able to clear any evidences especially falling out on impact, quantified metrics, industry innovation and recognition. Student projects don’t qualify for the criteria.

However you have time by your side to work towards building relevant professional experiences towards application suitability.

Good luck!

You currently do not have evidence to meet the criteria. Just building an app is not enough. Evidence related to undergraduate contribution is not sufficient. let from your professors are not enough, you need to read the tech nation guide.
